https://linktr.ee/refugee.project.maastricht The Refugee Project Maastricht is a local organisation that is dedicated to bringing refugees, students and locals together. We are here to get to know other each other, build relationships and create intercultural bridges. Our activities have everything you are looking for: food, music, sports, language tutoring, new people, you name it.

So join and make friends across cultures! Let's make this world a little better and a little happier, one day at a time! Refugee Project Maastricht was called to life at the beginning of 2015 with the goal of building bridges. Between the new arriving people from all around the world, from the war-threatened countries, and the students also from all around the world. Our aim is to connect students from the city of Maastricht with the asylum seekers on a level where they can meet, connect, become friends and get to know the structures, habits and belief systems of each other. We try to avoid the traditional term of 'help' which, we believe creates social gaps and labeling. We opt for an approach aimed at building mutual understanding, mutual solidarity and a sharing of our cultures. The project organises events and meetings for big or small groups. It provides personal opportunities to find ways to reach each other and to move both of the groups, the asylum seekers and the students, outside their comfort zones and challenges on a personal level. On the night of the 20th of June, a team of RPM volunteers walked 40 km from Amsterdam to Haarlem for the annual !
We walked to support life-saving emergency aid for Afghanistan, Lebanon, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Ukraine, and DR Congo. This is for shelter, clean water, food, and medical care for people on the move.

Here is a collection of special moments from our walk 🥾🌱☁️

Donations are still open until September 1st!

Our final Dutch class of 2025-26 ended with a special Mestreechs Workshop! ❤️🤍

To honour our last Dutch Beginner lesson on Tuesday 16th, we invited a guest teacher to guide our students through the basics of the Mestreechs dialect ⭐️ The class was made up of ten participants from countries including Yemen, Italy, Ukraine, and more.
It was a fun way to end the course and wonderful to see the progress everyone has made. Thank you everyone for being so eager to engage and learn!

And a special thank you to our guest teacher and all of our Dutch teachers, whose dedication, patience, and enthusiasm throughout the year helped make the course such a positive experience and helped so many students gain confidence in Dutch!

At RPM, we take great pride in our sense of community🩵
Last week marked the final Arabic class of the year, and our amazing students celebrated by bringing brownies and gifting roses to their teachers 🌹To finish off a year of hard work, our Arabic team went out for a well-deserved dinner. We captured some of the best moments and would love to share with you!
Swipe for the highlights of the day 🙃

A small act of kindness can make a big difference. ❤️

Coming together to spread hope, love and welcome through colourful chalk art for our local refugee community in Maastricht was truly heartwarming. Seeing children smile, people connect, and positive messages fill the streets was beautiful.

🌸Hope. Love. Family. Home. Welcome.🫶🏻

What if safety was 40 kilometers away?
On the night of 20 June, thousands of people across the Netherlands will walk through the night. Not because they have to. Because they choose to.
Every step during de Nacht van de Vluchteling stands in
solidarity with people who have been forced to leave
everything behind. Families fleeing conflict, violence, and crisis often walk for days, weeks, or even months in search of safety.
This year, we walk to support life-saving emergency aid for Afghanistan, Lebanon, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Ukraine, and DR Congo. This is for shelter, clean water, food, and medical care for people on the move. And in
2026, this walk carries extra meaning as Stichting Vluchteling marks 50 years of helping people forced to flee.
Walk with us.
Donate if you can here: Donations link in our Bio:

• Share their story.
Because no one chooses to become a refugee, but all of us can choose to help.
