Most DEMOS communication is naturally with the students of the Maastricht University Graduate School of Governance; however, we maintain this website particularly so that you, as prospective students, can get an idea about the school from the perspective of current and past students. These are submitted directly by the students and includes both what students like and where students see room for i

mprovement. Please note, the school is very actively listening and molding the programme based on our feedback. Each year the programme is adapting and bettering itself! Additionally, we post events and messages directed at all students onto our twitter account and facebook wall. Feel free to follow us on twitter to see what is going on in the social life surrounding the Masters and PHD programmes. Our student association DEMOS also maintains a page for both current and graduate students from the School of Governance, click here to go the respective page. Writing this post has been a challenge, words cannot describe the year we have had.

As a board, we have a sense of immense pride looking back at everything we have done this year; the Geneva trip, the Gala, the trips to Den Haag and Aachen, the potlucks, the parties, the alumni events, our partnerships in the city... and more.

Now that the year is coming to a close we wanted to take a moment to reflect and thank all of the staff at United Nations University-MERIT for their support this year. To thank you, the cohort, for your participation, ideas and never-ending smiles. But also, to thank ourselves for working so well together and for the time we have invested into Demos.

We can't wait to see what the next board achieve!

Today is the day! The Closing Ceremony marks the end of a year of hard work. We are incredibly proud of how far each and every one of you has come. As we move forward, no matter our destination, remember the dedication, resilience, and strength you've honed in this program.

We cannot believe it's been 10 days since the end of the Geneva trip, how time flies when you're making memories in such breathtaking places!

Thank you to everyone involved in organising the trip, especially UNSA Maastricht and Diego Salama as well as all of the staff from the UN institutions!

We're looking forward to many more trips and memories this year and hope you all are too🎉

🎉🌟 Get ready for an immersive linguistic experience at our Language Café! 🌟🎉

Today is International Mother Tongue day, to help mark this day this we are announcing the beginning of our language cafes, held every second Thursday. The first will be on February 29th.

📅 Date: Thursday, February 29th
🕒 Time: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
📍 Location: 1.23 UNU-MERIT

✨ Dive into the languages of our cohort, make new friends, and expand your linguistic horizons! 🌍☕

The session will be split into two halves of 45 minutes to allow you to switch language (if you want) and to get another coffee and more snacks! We will be providing some biscuits but please bring more food to share if you would like.

If you are interested in being a ‘language lead’, guiding the discussion in your native language, please get in touch with us so we can help provide some material.

DEMOS is thrilled to officially announce the upcoming Geneva trip in collaboration with .maastricht !

🇺🇳 This is a great opportunity to visit different UN institutions in Geneva, Switzerland!
🇨🇭 Join Demos and UNSA to explore the city, eat raclette, and visit the Palais des Nations, WHO, UNITAR, UNECE, ILO and more!

📅 When: February 12th - February 16th

💶 Costs will be just €230 (The amount includes a hostel, breakfast, transportation, a public transport card, and a visit to the institutions. This excludes costs for meals, drinks, extra social activities, etc.)

We'll be meeting at the entrance of the Main Cafe at 20:00 for some Christmas shopping, Gluhwein or Hot Chocolate, and more Christmas fun! 🎄🎄
