Student Council Health & Life Sciences

Student Council Health & Life Sciences Student Council at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (Maastricht University) We represent YOU! What gremia are there within the Student Council?

The Student Council is the strategic meeting of all student representatives from Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and European Public Health. In weekly meetings we discuss the current debates in the different committees and decide what position we take. A lot of issues need to be discussed, opinions need to be made and some projects need to be coördinated. Students participate in university po

litics and decision-making at different levels: on the level of study programs, on the level of the faculty and on university level. All of the students who are members of the committees are highly motivated and committed to their job. They make a speech for their fellow students and make a strong point for good quality of education! MUMC+: There is one student representative for all the students within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences: the student-assessor. Every two weeks you join the meetings from the Raad van Bestuur, consisting of representatives from the university and the hospital, to discuss education and research within the FHML. Besides that you join the meetings from the Board of Directors every two weeks to discuss the education from your own domain. Board of Directors: There are three students representative in the board for each of their own domain: Health, Biomedical Sciences and Medicine. Every two weeks you discuss the policy from the FHML and will make final decisions over topics within the FHML. You are responsible for your own domain and need to be fully informed about issues existing within your own domain. Management Teams: Each domain has his own MT including two student representatives. Every two weeks, the MT discusses not only the quality of the education, but mostly the management and financial perspectives for their domain. The role of the students in the MT is to provide the student perspective on the topics discussed. You need to be informed about important issues within your own domain. Education Committee: The EC has an advisory role in everything that has to do with the quality of the education of the studies within the FHML. Every four weeks the EC discusses important evaluations, courses, nominal plans and exam & education rules. The EC consists of six student representatives, which are responsible for the student opinion on everything that is discussed. You need to know the issues within the education your fellow students have problems with. Are you interested in joining the Student Council or do you have any questions regarding the current education on the FHML then please contact us via [email protected]

Would you like to organise activities for FHML master students, like parties or more career-related events?
If yes, joining the Master Association Workgroup of the Student Council HLS is definitely something for you! The goal of this committee is to set up an informal platform where the master students of all masters within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences can get to know each other in a casual way!

We are looking for enthusiastic master students who would like to set this up and ensure that the master students also have some kind of association where they can make contacts!
If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected] before June 12th. For further questions, do not hesitate to ask them as well!
