🌍❤️ Join the 15th Edition of The World United for Life ❤️🌍

On September 20, 2026, funeral service providers, cemeteries, and communities around the world will come together once again to celebrate The World United for Life – a global movement initiated by ALPAR Asociación – The Latin American Association of Cemeteries and Funeral Services.

Since 2012, this inspiring initiative has united people across continents in honoring the memory of those who have passed away, celebrating the lives of those we love, and recognizing the value of life itself. Through commemorative events, educational activities, cultural programs, ceremonies, and moments of reflection, the movement continues to strengthen connections between families, friends, and communities.

Over the past fifteen years, more than 413 organizations in 228 cities across 43 countries have participated, engaging millions of people worldwide.

FIAT-IFTA proudly supports this meaningful initiative and encourages all members to take part in this global celebration of remembrance, compassion, and life.

Thank you to everyone we had the pleasure of meeting during the National Funeral Exhibition (NFE) 2026, held from 11–13 June at Stoneleigh Park, UK 🇬🇧.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with funeral professionals from around the world, exchange ideas, explore new perspectives for the future of the funeral sector, and discover the latest innovations and trends shaping our industry. The event's comprehensive programme provided valuable insights into business management, technological advancement, changing family expectations, sustainability, and professional development.

We were also honoured to visit J.H. Kenyon Funeral Directors, a company with 145 years of exceptional service and dedication to funeral care.

NFE 2026 welcomed more than 4,500 funeral industry professionals from nearly 20 countries. Organised by the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), it is the largest funeral trade exhibition in the United Kingdom and one of the most significant events in the global funeral profession.

We are grateful to have been part of this outstanding event and look forward to continuing the conversations and collaborations that began at NFE 2026.

🤝 During the first day of BEFA FORUM 2026, the FIAT-IFTA Board held its Board meeting at the headquarters of the Bundesverband Deutscher Bestatter e. V. (BDB) in Düsseldorf 🇩🇪

We were warmly welcomed by BDB President Ralf Michael, General Manager Stephan Neuser, and members of the BDB team. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the work of BDB, exchange ideas, and discuss topics important to the future of the funeral profession.

As one of FIAT-IFTA's national members, BDB is an important part of our international network, helping to connect funeral professionals and organisations across borders.

We are grateful for the hospitality shown to the FIAT-IFTA Board and for the open and engaging discussions throughout the meeting.
Meetings like this remind us of the importance of sharing experiences, learning from one another, and working together to support and strengthen our profession worldwide.

🌍 FIAT-IFTA x BDB - Joint Statement at BEFA FORUM 2026 in Düsseldorf

The funeral profession is as diverse as the people and communities it serves. Every life is unique, and every farewell reflects individual values, beliefs, and wishes. Behind these meaningful moments stand dedicated professionals from all walks of life.

While many still picture the funeral director as an older gentleman in a black suit, the reality of today's profession tells a different story. Across the world, funeral service is becoming younger, more diverse, and increasingly female. In Germany alone, 57% of apprentices entering the profession are women, helping to redefine and strengthen the future of funeral care.

From family consultations and pre-need planning to ceremonial arrangements, transfers, and hygienic care, women and men alike are making an invaluable contribution to serving families with compassion, expertise, and professionalism.

Whether young or experienced, formally dressed or expressing their individuality through personal style, funeral professionals share a common purpose: caring for the deceased and supporting the bereaved during life's most difficult moments.

Together, FIAT-IFTA and the German Federal Association of Funeral Directors (BDB) proudly support a funeral profession that embraces diversity, equality, and inclusion. Through initiatives such as "A Manifesto of Visibility and Voice" and "bunt im schwarz", we continue working toward a profession where everyone is represented and every voice matters.

✨ What an incredible first day at BEFA FORUM 2026! ✨

Today was a truly inspiring and action-packed start to one of the world's leading gatherings for the funeral profession.

The FIAT-IFTA Board was honoured to participate in the official opening of BEFA FORUM Düsseldorf and to present special recognitions to BEFA FORUM and Bundesverband Deutscher Bestatter e.V. (BDB) for their outstanding dedication, partnership, leadership, and decades of service to our profession.

A major highlight of the day was the official opening of our international exhibition, A Manifesto of Visibility and Voice. Featuring 44 powerful works created by women from 14 countries, the exhibition shines a light on the experiences, challenges, achievements, and contributions of women across the global funeral profession. It was a moving and memorable moment to see this important project come to life and begin meaningful conversations that will continue long after the exhibition closes.

Beyond the ceremonies and events, the greatest pleasure of the day was meeting so many members, partners, colleagues, and friends from around the world. The FIAT-IFTA stand was buzzing with activity, and we were delighted to spend time in inspiring conversations, exchange ideas, discuss the future of our profession, and strengthen international connections.

With more than 250 exhibitors and thousands of professionals from across the globe gathered in Düsseldorf, BEFA FORUM once again demonstrates why it is a key meeting point for innovation, collaboration, and professional development in the funeral and cemetery sector.
