This is the official page of International Students of History Association (ISHA) – Leiden section. The International Students of History Association (ISHA) is an international non-governmental organization of students of history. Our goals are to facilitate communication and provide a platform of exchange of ideas across geographical and intellectual borders for students of history and r
elated sciences on an international level. ISHA was founded 1990 on the initiative of Hungarian history students to bring students from all over Europe together and to bridge the border between East and West after the fall of the Iron Curtain. ISHA believes that international perspectives constitute an important part of every student’s education and therefore promotes international co-operation and understanding, to improve and complement the ways and means of historical educations. Membership is open for students (undergraduate through PhD) from all disciplines and backgrounds with an interest in history and historical science. ISHA is represented at universities by its member groups, called sections. The organization consist of local sections (both Member and Observer sections), the International Board (IB), the General Assembly (GA) and the Council. Throughout the academic year, the various member sections take turns in organizing several seminars. These events comprise workshops, discussions and presentations, dealing with historical cultural and political topics, but also city tours, field trips and other fun student activities. The Annual Conference is usually held in Spring and is the biggest and most important ISHA-event of the year. It provides all member sections to gather and exchange, but also to elect the members of the International Board for the upcoming year.
