In October 2020, Meta Meulenbelt (adoptive mum) joined forces with Li-Da Kruger (Cambodian adoptee) and Kari Lemons (adoptive mum and creator of Khmer Cousins Project) to start the NGO DNACambodia. All three female board members live in three different countries, and have a history with Cambodia, either by searching for their own birth family, or searching for the birth family of their adopted chi
ldren. Our mission is to provide DNA testing, assistance and education to Cambodians worldwide to help reunite family members. We provide free DNA kits in Cambodia, assist those outside Cambodia to purchase test kits and educate all Cambodians on the DNA test facts. Since 2024, we now have a UK office (Reconnecting Cambodia) and our overall mission has become the ‘Reconnecting Cambodia Project’, working closely with our local sister charity, the Khmer Charity Organization, to run Cambodian operations. Our dream is to help Cambodians find their lost family members again. If you are interested in the Reconnecting Cambodia Project, please visit our English websites www.dnacambodia.com and www.reconnectingcambodia.org or our Khmer website www.kfco-dna.org. We offer an advice tool so you can find out what actions you can take in your personal situation, and a form if you want to apply to be in our project. If you need personal assistance, please send in our form, or contact us. Thanks to a hugely generous donation of DNA tests by MyHeritage, under their DNAQuest project, we can now start and are very grateful for this. If you have relatives living in Cambodia, please share our www.kfco-dna.org website. They can contact our General Director directly in the country, his phone number is on the website, which is mobile-friendly. We know there are a lot of people in Cambodia who are missing family members, we want to give them hope to reunite with their long lost family! If you want to support us through a one-time or structural donation, to cover related costs (including startup costs inside Cambodia for the collection of DNA and sending it to the laboratory), you can do so at https://www.dnacambodia.com/Donate/. Our Facebook group page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/DNACambodia and we communicate via that page as well. Friendly greetings and hopefully see you! The board of DNACambodia
