At IMBA Europe, cycling isn't just something we advocate for - it's part of everyday life. Our board and staff regularly use their mountain bikes and city bikes for commuting, shopping trips, school drop-offs, and getting around their communities.

Every journey by bike is a reminder of the positive impact cycling has on our health, wellbeing, and the places we live.

This World Bicycle Day, we encourage our community to join us: choose the bike for a trip, take a photo, and share your ride.

๐Ÿฅพ Throughout Europe's Protected Areas, trails help guide visitors: Showing them the incredible beauty of our natural heritage, whilst also protecting valuable - and vulnerable - ecosystems.

Yet, trails remain politically invisible, under-funded, and structurally unsupported.

Trails are far more than lines on a map - they are critical infrastructure for recreation, health, tourism, nature connection and sustainable outdoor participation. Thatโ€™s why we encourage our community to join the upcoming ENOS webinar: The Value and Strategic Relevance of Trails.

At IMBA Europe, we know this discussion matters. Weโ€™ve been heavily involved in developing the European trails policy paper, helping build a stronger case for recognising trails as essential assets that deserve strategic support and investment.

This webinar is a great opportunity for trail advocates, destination managers, land managers, outdoor organisations and riders to better understand how trails create value across sectors - and why stronger policy recognition can shape the future of trail access and development across Europe.

If you care about the long-term future of trails and want to strengthen the arguments for investment, collaboration and sustainable trail development, this conversation is for you.

Join the discussion and help shape the future of trails.

Trail crews keep trails running, and the volunteers keep communities moving.

Week after week, people are out there clearing drains, repairing damage, organizing dig days, and improving local trails. Most of that work happens quietly.

Take Care of Your Trails is a chance to recognize those efforts and share them with a wider community.

This year, we also wanted the awards to directly support the people doing the work.

๐Ÿ†The Best Nation Award will provide an Eco-Counter trail counter to one community.

๐Ÿ†The Trail Advancement Award will fund a place on the Trail Builder & Management Course in Norway for someone looking to further develop their skills.

Big thanks to the crews and organizations already signed up and sharing events with us. Itโ€™s great to see so many communities already involved.

If your community is out there caring for trails, weโ€™d love to hear from you.

โš’๏ธ๐Ÿ†Introducing the 'Trail Advancement Award'- a new Take Care of Your Trails initiative aimed at strengthening skills, knowledge, and leadership within the European trail community.

Funded through a 1% for the Planet donation from H+I Adventures to IMBA Europe, this award represents a shared commitment to investing in the people shaping the future of sustainable trail development.

The recipient will be awarded a fully funded place on the Trail Building Management program, delivered by Fagskolen Viken Higher Vocational College, which is recognized as a European hub for trail builder education.

Designed to fit alongside professional commitments, the program offers a flexible โ€œstudy while you workโ€ structure, combining primarily online learning with in-person training blocks (multiple weeks across Europe, including Norway)

Participants will build expertise across key areas:

โ€ข Trail building in a societal and environmental context โ€“ understanding the historical development, cultural significance, and industry dynamics of mountain biking

โ€ข Trail design and planning โ€“ leading and coordinating core planning and management processes in trail development projects

โ€ข Construction and maintenance โ€“ operational planning, construction oversight, and ensuring long-term trail performance

The program is based on the European DIRTT competence framework and follows an internationally developed and quality-assured syllabus, ensuring alignment with recognised guidelines and best practice within professional trail development.

โ€ผ๏ธWe strongly encourage all interested applicants to carefully review the full entry and application requirements on our website to ensure they meet the necessary qualifications before applying.

This award is a meaningful step in building capacity, supporting professional pathways, and advancing sustainable trail development across Europe.

Find out more and apply via the IMBA Europe website.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’ชBuilt by Us, For Us: Announcing the launch of the WiMTB Mentoring Program .
๐ŸฅณWeโ€™re proud to launch the Women in Mountain Biking Network Mentoring Program. A big step forward for WiMTB and IMBA Europe, shaped by the voices, needs, and ambition of women+ across our sport.

This is a community-led program connecting women+ working and volunteering in mountain biking with experienced mentors. Itโ€™s about honest conversations, shared experience, and opening up real pathways forward.

In year one, weโ€™re focusing on:
โ€ข Trail building and advocacy
โ€ข Guiding and coaching

Because too many of us still know what it feels like to be the only one. Showing up, figuring it out alone, without clear routes into the industry or people to turn to.
At the same time, we have a strong, skilled community of women+ whoโ€™ve been there, learned it, and are ready to pass it on.

This program brings us together.
Itโ€™s about backing each other. Building confidence. Growing skills. And making sure women+ are not just part of mountain bikingโ€™s future, but helping lead it.

Applications are now open. Share it. Send it to someone who needs it. Step into it yourself.
