Why doesn’t information alone change behavior?

In our latest Medium article, Swanti Satsangi Gupta explores why climate awareness rarely translates into meaningful action and what it actually takes to shift mindsets and behaviors.

Through a learning experiment we discovered that passive data and information alone fail to create lasting change. Because people don’t simply respond to facts; they respond to emotion, identity, belonging, and shared commitment.

The key takeaway?

To drive real systems change, we must move beyond traditional information delivery and start designing learning journeys rooted in empathy, participation, friction, and collective intelligence.

Because the true measure of learning is not whether people remember the content, but whether they become someone who cares and acts.

What are the challenges that social innovators are facing in the current funding ecosystem?

Fred Rutagengwa from Watoto Vision Africa, a member of the Catalyst Now movement, shares his vision of an ideal funding system: one rooted in community knowledge and designed to provide long term, flexible support to social innovators.

The Ecosystem Founders Council was created for exactly this purpose: to pave the way for reshaping the existing funding models.

It is a collective space that brings social innovators and philanthropists together to drive systemic change and reshape financial structures as a long-term strategic investment.

Because the world is not short of solutions, it’s short of alignment.

On World Food Safety Day, Catalyst Now joins the movement "From Burden to Solutions: Safe Food Everywhere."

From Kenya to Asia-Pacific, we are addressing the global food crisis with technology-based, science-driven, localized initiatives, directly powered by our members in their communities. This includes enabling young people with climate-smart technology and mobilizing international funding for regenerative, local agricultural models.

We understand that ensuring safe food everywhere is a collective mission and that systemic change doesn't happen in isolation. At Catalyst Now, we are tackling this challenge from the ground up, starting with social innovators.

Join our collaborations and let's strengthen our efforts to create a system where safe food is a reality for everyone, everywhere: https://f.mtr.cool/jonbnylaho

The strength of an economy doesn’t rest on financial capital alone. It rests on the resilience of Civil Society.

In his article Investing in the Democratic Dividend, Michael Jarvis argues that stable markets require a foundation of trust that only a robust Civil Society can build. That foundation cannot exist without four essential conditions:

🔹 Transparency
🔹 Accountability
🔹 Citizen Participation
🔹 Fair Systems

As a vital part of economic infrastructure, Civil Society acts as a safety net during crises, facilitates dialogue between competing interests, and bridges the gap between citizens and institutions.

This is where the Ecosystems Founders Council comes in: it strengthens the environment where civil society flourishes and provides the platform for social innovators and philanthropists to drive systemic change - treating civil society not as a donation, but as a high-stakes, long-term strategic investment

Systems thinking isn’t about overcomplicating - it’s about seeing the hidden connections that drive real impact. In our latest piece, Danny Chen unpacks why this mindset is essential for tackling today's most complex challenges.

Instead of avoiding complexity, we’re learning to navigate it. The article explores:

🔹Debunking Myths: Systems thinking isn’t a top-down mandate; it’s an inclusive, experimental process.
🔹Small Wins, Big Impact: Why starting with informed, local experiments beats massive, rigid designs.
🔹Systemic Alignment: How to align human goals with complex environments.
