OPEN CALL: Doe mee aan de kunstruil voor kunstenaars bij SIGN!

In het kader van ‘Het recht van Groningen, circuit of commons’’ waar verbindingen worden gezocht tussen ‘commons’ (zelf organiserende groepen/ communities) organiseert ‘Fietsenwerkplaats Mutual Aid’ in kunstruimte SIGN:

een project over radicale vrijgevigheid!

Kunstenaars worden uitgenodigd om een of twee werken te brengen en te ruilen met andere kunstenaars. Neem handzaam werk mee!

Als je jezelf kunt inspireren, kun je ons allemaal inspireren!
Dit als onderdeel van het Kunstcafé Mutual Aid, dat gericht is op wederzijdse hulp en solidariteit onder kunstenaars: het maken van nieuwe connecties en delen ( geven en nemen) van tijd, kennis en kunde.
Bijna iedere kunstenaar heeft werk wat maar gewoon ligt te liggen en eigenlijk de wereld in moet.
We kunnen wachten tot anderen interesse tonen, maar we kunnen ook zelf op zoek gaan naar nieuwe connecties, waar kijken en luisteren vanzelfsprekend is en gesprekken ontstaan over je kunst, je kunstpraktijk en jij als persoon.
Het hoeft niet je dierbaarste werk te zijn. Een schets, een experiment, een pagina uit je ideeënboek / dummy mag ook……
Een richtlijn voor het formaat zou kunnen zijn: iets wat in een tas past of handzaam is.
Fijn als je een korte tekst schrijft waarin je iets over jezelf vertelt, over je werk, of over wat je met je tijd doet. Het idee is dat het bij het werk komt te liggen en wordt meegegeven aan de persoon die het werk mee naar huis neemt.
We zijn opgegroeid met ideeën over ruilen, geld en handel. Als je wil kun je dit ook weer afleren. In ieder geval zou er ruimte moeten zijn om het anders te organiseren: Ruilen is een optie, weggeven kan ook. Dit is een voortzetting van de praktijk en wat we al jaren doen met fietsen, tijd en ruimte in de Fietsenwerkplaats Mutual Aid: radicale vrijgevigheid.
Een aantal mensen van het kunstcafe is aanwezig om de wat, waar en waarom vragen te beantwoorden.
Kunstcafe Mutual Aid zal daarnaast een vragenlijst voor een brainstormsessie opstellen waar kunstenaars aangeven wat ze graag zouden willen zien van / en doen in de kunstcafé bijeenkomsten in de toekomst.

��This is part of the Kunstcafé Mutual Aid and focuses on mutual help and solidarity among artists: creating new connections and sharing (giving and taking) time, knowledge, and skills.��Almost every artist has work that is simply lying around and should really be out in the world. We can wait for others to show interest, but we can also seek out new connections ourselves, where looking and listening is natural and conversations arise about your art, your artistic practice, and you as a person.
It doesn't have to be your most cherished work. A sketch, an experiment, a page from your idea book/dummy is also fine……
A guideline for the size could be something that fits in a bag or something that is handy to take..
It would be nice if you write a short text telling something about yourself, about your work, or about how you spend your time.
The idea is that it will be placed with the work and given to the person who takes the work home.��We have grown up with ideas about trading, money, and commerce. If you want, you can also unlearn this. In any case, there should be room to organise things differently: trading is an option, giving away is also possible. This is a continuation of our practice and what we have been doing for years with bikes, time, and space in the Bicycle Workshop Mutual Aid: radical generosity.�� circuit of commons
A number of people from the art café are present to answer the what, where and why questions. In addition, Kunstcafe Mutual Aid will prepare a questionnaire for a brainstorming session where artists can indicate what they would like to see and do in the art café gatherings in the future.

Zondag 30 maart om 13.00 uur is de derde bijeenkomst van het Kunstcafé Mutual Aid. Een bijeenkomst waar netwerken kunnen ontstaan, mensen zich aan kunnen sluiten bij bestaande initiatieven en/of meedoen aan activiteiten. De nadruk ligt wat mij betreft op wederzijdse hulp aan kunstenaars die wel interessant werk blijven maken, maar worstelen met het kunstenaarschap en de kunstwereld. Anderen mogen het ook gebruiken als carrièreplanning / zoektocht naar nieuwe connecties binnen de kunstwereld.
Er zijn plannen gemaakt voor: De Menselijke Bibliotheek, Kleine Workshops - delen van vaardigheden, Open Call Support Group, Documentairegroep, Tentoonstellingen, de Maandagavondkunstacademie en Show&Tell van eigen werk
Het kan beginnen met aandacht voor elkaar en elkaars werk. Dit kan ervoor zorgen dat kunstenaars hernieuwde motivatie vinden om nieuw werk te gaan maken. Het zou ook uit kunnen groeien tot een vorm van Commoning Art – een kunstwereld buiten de kunstwereld.

Ik vroeg iedereen die aanwezig was bij het vorige kunstcafé welke kunstenaars ze voor willen dragen om er een kleine documentaire over te maken. De eerste twee zijn gemaakt. Het lijkt mij ook een mooie uitnodiging voor kunstenaars om naar het kunstcafé te komen: ‘ Er zou zo maar een docu over jou en je werk gemaakt kunnen worden’. Het thema voor deze bijeenkomst is Show&Tell: neem wat van je werk of documentatie van je werk mee.

Tijd: 13.00 uur ( tot ongeveer 15.13 uur, maar mag ook uitlopen tot ‘s avonds laat )

[ Sunday 30 March at 13.00 is the third meeting of the Art Café Mutual Aid. A meeting where networks can be created, people can join existing initiatives and/or participate in activities. As far as I am concerned, the emphasis is on mutual aid to artists who continue to make interesting work, but struggle with artistry and the art world. Others may also use it as career planning / search for new connections within the art world.
Plans have been made for: The Human Library, Small Workshops - Skills Sharing, Open Call Support Group, Documentary Group, Exhibitions, the Mondayeveningartschool and Show&Tell of own work
It can start with paying attention to each other and each other's work. This can ensure that artists find renewed motivation to create new work. It could also grow into a form of Commoning Art – an art world outside the art world.
I asked everyone who was present at the previous art café which artists they would like to nominate to make a small documentary about them. The first two have been made. It also seems to me a nice invitation for artists to come to the art café: 'A documentary could just be made about you and your work'. The theme for this meeting is Show&Tell: bring some of your work or documentation of your work.

Zondag 23 februari is het tweede kunstcafé Café Kunst in de fietsenwerkplaats Mutual Aid. De eerste bijeenkomst lag de focus op solidariteit van kunstenaars voor kunstenaars en vooral gericht op die kunstenaars die worstelen met het kunstenaarschap en de kunstwereld. Voor mij zal deze focus blijven, maar ik verwacht dat anderen de nadruk ergens anders willen leggen. Om richting te geven aan de bijeenkomst en het niet zo oeverloos te doen voelen was het voorstel om na te denken en dat deden we, waardoor mensen met wonderschone ideeën kwamen:
* Door middel van boeiende activiteiten (als een vorm van maakplek ) en gemeenschapsprojecten, een dialogische uitwisseling (bij voorkeur tussen kunst, het sociale aspect van kunst/artivism/craftism
* Ik zou een "menselijke bibliotheek" willen voorstellen (persoonlijk en via Zoom) waar kunstenaars/kunstprofessionals dienen als open boeken om gesprekken te voeren over politieke en sociale kwesties.
* Het idee is om een Read & Draw-middag te houden, waarbij we boeken/teksten meenemen die we momenteel lezen of willen lezen, en deze gebruiken als inspiratie voor een tekening of een andere creatie die we zelf gaan maken.
* Ik wil een documentairegroep beginnen met de bedoeling om kunstenaars te interviewen die interessant werk maken en doe dat op locatie: in hun atelier, werkruimte of thuis.
* ...Ik denk dat het echt past bij de richting die je op gaat: een kleine kunstenaarsresidentie. Gedurende deze tijd kun je de documentaire over hen filmen - hun werk, hun proces en wat ze in de ruimte doen.
* Wisselende exposities door wisselende curatoren.
De bijeenkomst van komende zondag willen we gebruiken om structuur te geven aan de invullingen van het cafe ( activiteiten, exposities, maken van documentaires). Het thema van deze bijeenkomst is de human library: neem documentatie van je werk mee om het in de groep ( of kleine groep...als je dat zoals ik prettiger vindt ) te laten zien. Er is nog plek genoeg voor kunstenaars die mee willen denken en handelen.

[Sunday 23 February is the second art café Café Kunst in the bicycle workshop Mutual Aid. The first meeting focused on solidarity from artists for artists and especially aimed at those artists who struggle with artistry and the art world. For me, this focus will remain, but I expect others to want to put the emphasis elsewhere. To give direction to the meeting and not make it feel so endless, the proposal was to think and we did, so that people came up with wonderful ideas:
* Through engaging activities (as a form of making space) and community-based projects, a dialogical exchange (preferably between art, communing art/artivism/craftivism,
* I'd suggest a "human library" (in person and via Zoom) where artists/art professionals serve as open books to have conversations about political and social issues.
* The idea is having Read & Draw afternoon, bringing books/text we are currently reading or wish to read, and relate to them as inspiration for a drawing or another creation we will do hands on.
* I want to start a documentary group with the intention of interviewing artists who create interesting work and do so on location: in their studio, workspace or at home..
* ...I think could really fit the direction you're heading: a small artist residency. During this time, you could film the documentary about them—their work, their process, and what they're doing in the space.
* Changing exhibitions by changing curators.
We want to use next Sunday's meeting to give structure to the interpretations of the café (activities, exhibitions, making documentaries). The theme of this meeting is the human library: bring documentation of your work to share it in the group (or small group... if you prefer that, like I do) to show. There is still plenty of room for artists who want to think and act along.
