The 2026 edition will focus on Hungary, and bring together Hungarian and international experts, legal practitioners, and civil society representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities for strengthening democratic institutions and access to justice.

The programme will feature discussions on judicial independence, the right to a defence, and the restoration of the rule of law, followed by the Ebru Timtik Award Ceremony honouring outstanding commitment to the protection of fair trial rights.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.

🚨𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

This fully funded, one-week course is designed for early-career lawyers under 35 who defend LGBTQIA+ rights, or who wish to enter this field of litigation. It takes place from 15 to 21 November 2026 in the Netherlands.

Participants will develop skills in strategic litigation, the use of regional and international human rights systems, digital and physical security, trauma-informed lawyering, advocacy, and fundraising, while connecting with human rights professionals and fellow advocates.

Lawyers for Lawyers, together with the IFTD Steering Group, invites you to join the event in Budapest on 18 June, bringing together international and national stakeholders to address these pressing issues.

4 years ago, environmental lawyer was sentenced to 5 years in prison in , taken from his home when his son was just 2 weeks old.

For over 20 years, Bach has fought to protect Vietnam’s environment and communities affected by pollution. As co-founder of LPSD, he helped communities defend their health, trained young lawyers, and drove reforms on plastics, asbestos, and clean energy, paving the way for Vietnam’s net-zero 2050 commitment.

In solidarity, we have advocated for his case by featuring him in our campaign and annual greeting card action, through which lawyers and law firms worldwide send messages of solidarity and support.

As Vietnam prepares to celebrate ̂́T – the Year of the Horse symbolizing strength, freedom, and generosity – we call on Vietnamese leaders to extend this spirit of clemency and reunion to Dang Dinh Bach and his family, and to grant his release.

🚨PAKISTAN: Unjust conviction of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chattha must be set aside

Alongside more than 40 legal and human rights organiastions, we strongly condemn the arbitrary arrest and subsequent conviction of Pakistani human rights lawyers and and call for their immediate release and measures to ensure the conviction is set aside.

The arbitrary arrest and continued detention of Mazari and Chattha, as well as the systematic harassment against them, have been widely condemned, and are emblematic of a broader trend of judicial persecution aimed at exhausting their time and resources, discrediting their work, and obstructing their ability to represent alleged victims of violent abuses perpetrated by state agents.

The use of PECA 2016 in 'the tweets case' illustrates how the Pakistani authorities are weaponizing the justice system to punish dissent and target legitimate human rights work.

We call on to uphold its obligations under international law: release them immediately, ensure their safety, and end the harassment of all lawyers and human rights defenders.
