We are so proud to let you know that today we celebrated the graduation of our student Esther. The journey from secondary school to finishing this course with a certificate Interior Design was tough, but the more proud you can be girl! Congratulations from the whole Shade family! You deserve it. We wish you all the best for the future.

September 13 we organized a meeting for parents and relatives of our students, which are living in the students house in town and will soon finalize on their study.
The relatives were actively listening and they also sent their greetings and appreciation to the board and sponsors of Shade.
We focused on feedback from everyone, updated them on the levels the students are and preparing them for receiving their children back after they clear college.
We allowed them to share their feelings about the return of their children and they expressed fears about not getting jobs. We let them know the students are not only focussing on the courses they follow, but also on what comes after that, whereby it is made very clear that any job opportunity, so long as it has dignity, should be considered an option. We also encouraged the students to deliver as many applications as possible.
This meeting was a good step in the proces of the students exiting Shade in a good way. Hopefully for a bright and better future than when they entered Shade.

In July we started with our new outreach programs and now we can note the first succesful 'bringing children back to school' cases. These are two of the children who have been coming to Shade over July and August following informal classes and working on health issues. They are in school already now, both in pre primary 2. We look at these cases in a holistic way, in an attempt to prevent dropping out in future also and to empower the family.

At the beginning of this month our students continued visiting each others relatives/homes. This time it was Dorcas' and Irene's turn... The girls enjoyed very much and it was good to get to know each others background.
As Shade we not only work on our children's wellbeing as far as basic needs as food, education and health are concerned, but where possible we also work on the relationship with familymembers. That can also be with an aunt, a grandmother or even a parent that was out of sight for a long time.

Wij zijn ontzettend blij met onze prachtige nieuwe rolbanner, gesponsord door Druk Idee. We gaan deze banner gebruiken op markten, workshops en bijeenkomsten. Zo is het voor iedereen meteen duidelijk wie we zijn en wat we doen. Druk Idee, enorm bedankt voor jullie betrokkenheid, keer op keer weer!
