After months of preparation, the FIRST® Tech Challenge European Premier Event 2026 is almost here!

Last Saturday, we welcomed our volunteers for Volunteer Help Day, where we completed final checks and finished making the last event buttons. This Monday, the event banners went up, giving visitors an early glimpse of what’s to come!

Now we’re entering the final countdown. The preparations are nearly complete, the excitement is building, and before we know it, players, judges, volunteers, and visitors from across the world will be coming together for an unforgettable event.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone next week and create another incredible European Premier Event together.

“My FIRST journey started with FIRST® LEGO® League when I joined my school’s robotics club in 5th grade. I’ve always loved robots, and through FLL I met other kids who shared that passion. Before long, I wasn’t just building and programming robots, but also researching and interviewing experts.”💬

“In 9th grade I switched to FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) and joined several teams: , , and . Since Germany didn’t have FTC competitions yet, we travelled to the Netherlands to compete. The energy there was unforgettable: exciting matches, dancing together, and the spirit of Coopertition®. I also started volunteering at local FLL events as a referee and judge. After graduating, I knew I wanted to stay involved, so volunteering was the perfect next step.”💬

“One moment I’ll always remember was when a team lost three wheels during a match. Even with that setback, they still managed to reach the base zone with the help of their alliance partner, and the whole crowd cheered. Moments like that remind me that even when things don’t go your way, teamwork and perseverance can still lead to success.” 💬

“What I love most as a referee is seeing every robot in action. Every team has a different approach and no two matches are the same. I also really enjoy working together with the other referees, often we barely need words to understand each other. Everyone is eager to learn and grow together, and no one gets left behind. Even though I graduated, I still learn something new from the teams every time. That’s what makes volunteering with FIRST so special to me.”💬

“Als coach van team Orange was het World Champiosnhip in 2024 absoluut een hoogtepunt. Dit jaar was de Benelux Championship tot nu toe mijn hoogtepunt, maar ik kijk er erg naar uit om tijdens het European Premier Event als vrijwilliger mee te helpen om er een geweldig evenement van te maken voor alle teams.” 💬

Meet The Team: 16058 - Rev Atom🇧🇷

The Rev Atom robotics team is a true milestone in the history of technological innovation in state of Pernambuco, Brazil. As pioneers in the state in the FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) modality, the team has not only paved the way for other initiatives but has also raised the standard of educational robotics by combining creativity, engineering, and youth protagonism.

One of Rev Atom’s greatest distinctions lies in the boldness of its projects. They are the first team in Brazil to develop a robot using carbon fiber and even more impressively, they manufacture the material themselves. This hands-on process reflects their deep technical understanding and commitment to learning beyond the standard curriculum.

Their innovation has already earned national recognition. At the Brazilian FTC Championship, Rev Atom achieved 2nd place in the Think Award, honoring teams with outstanding engineering design, creative problem-solving, and original approaches to the game challenge.

More than just results, Rev Atom represents inspiration. It is proof that with dedication, knowledge, and teamwork, students can transform ideas into real and impactful solutions, placing Pernambuco in a prominent position on the national robotics stage.

Company Visit Day is coming!💪⚙️

Soon, hundreds of students joining the European Premier Event will get the chance to explore the Brainport region on Tuesday and experience the world of high-tech up close.
During this interactive day, students will visit 11 innovative companies and organizations:

👩‍🔬 What will students experience?
After an introduction to each company’s technology and operations, students will take part in interactive programs, workshops or guided tours. They won’t just see innovation, they’ll experience it.

At the High Tech Campus, students will also join an interactive campus scavenger hunt, solving a mystery by collecting hints along the way.🕵️‍♂️

Femke: “Op mijn middelbare school waren er twee teams, Stanisals Tech Team (3977) en Stanisals Tech Academy (13953). Hun coach vroeg of ik wilde aansluiten. Ik zat toen al in mijn examenjaar, maar tijdens de Benelux finale heb ik me meteen aangemeld als vrijwilliger.”💬

Inge: “Via mijn dochter kwam ik bij FIRST terecht. Omdat veel locaties niet in de buurt waren, was ik vaak de taxi en zat ik ergens in een hoekje te werken. Tot ik werd gevraagd om ook vrijwilliger te worden—ik was er toch al!”💬

𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥.
Femke: “Ik ben voornamelijk ref en inspector. In de ochtend inspecteer ik de robots om te checken of ze aan de regels voldoen. Tijdens de wedstrijden houd ik als referee de (straf)punten bij.”💬

Inge: “Ik ben jurylid. In de ochtend luister ik naar de presentaties van teams en in de middag ga ik langs bij teams om extra vragen te stellen. De judge-award is stiekem wel mijn favoriet.”💬

𝐖𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?
Femke: “Het European Premier Event. Daar werd echt zichtbaar hoe groot en impactvol FIRST is—zoveel teams uit verschillende landen met één doel.”💬

Inge: “Voor mij ook het European Premier Event. Maar ook het moment dat een team super trots was op hun judge-award, stond te juichen en me daarna kwam bedanken—that’s unforgettable.”💬

Inge: “Dat je jongeren ziet groeien en bloeien. FIRST leert ze zoveel buiten de schoolbanken, en het is mooi om daar een rol in te spelen.”💬

Dankzij vrijwilligers zoals Femke en Inge kunnen deelnemers groeien, leren en het beste uit zichzelf halen.🌟

European Premier Event – University Campus Day on June 17🎓
