The first TostArchi of the academic year is here, and this time we're keeping things VERY DUTCH!

From the classic cheese tosti to a sweet twist on the Dutch favourite pindakaas and hagelslag, we're bringing some familiar flavours to the tosti-ijzer. Whether you're in the mood for something cheesy, savoury, or sweet, there's a tosti for everyone.

Disruptive 24H Challenge: State of Students

10,000 student homes. One city. 24 hours. Eindhoven is growing, and so is its need for student housing. But what if we could rethink the way students live altogether?

Together with Gemeente Eindhoven and HEVO, AnArchi challenges you to design an entirely new district for 10,000 students. Think beyond conventional housing: from radical living arrangements and shared spaces to new ways of building and connecting with the city.

You have 24 hours to turn your ideas into a bold architectural vision. Work in teams, challenge the ordinary, and compete for €1,500 in prizes!

Sweco Dutch Design Week Workshop ✏️🗓️

Curious about technology in practice?

Future designers, this is an event you don’t want to miss! Sweco Nederland, .b.s.g.styles, CHEOPS and AnArchi are organising an in-house day for 10 enthusiastic students who are eager to see, hear and experience how knowledge around urban planning is applied in practice.

On Wednesday October 21st, we would love to welcome you to our office in Eindhoven for a behind-the-scenes look into the world of urban planning and landscape architecture. We challenge you to think along with us about current issues and show you how you can use your knowledge to make an impact through smart, sustainable and future-proof solutions.

Sweco’s professionals will take you through today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Topics include climate-adaptive cities, attractive public spaces, and the interplay between urban planning and landscape architecture when designing future-proof living environments.

And there's more: all participants receive a free Dutch Design Week wristband, giving access to DDW for the entire week!

What can you do in 24 hours? The Disruptive 24H Challenge is coming back this November: one day, one challenge and 1500€ in prizes to be won (1000€ Grand Prize & 500€ Special Prize).

Rijksmuseum Excursion 🚞🖼️

Spend a day discovering 17th century Amsterdam through its buildings, books and art. Architect Adriaan Jurriëns will guide us through the historic centre, where we will cycle between buildings that have shaped Dutch architecture for almost four centuries. Along the way, we will look beyond their façades and learn more about the architects and ideas behind them, including Keizersgracht 672.

We will visit the Cuypers Library and look at 17th century architectural treatises that architects studied, used and sometimes wrote themselves. We will explore how these books shaped architectural thinking at the time and take a closer look at Classicism beyond its visual language.

We will then visit the Rijksmuseum, where we will connect the architecture of Amsterdam to the art, culture and everyday life of the 17th century. We will finish the day at Museum Van Loon and experience one of Amsterdam’s historic canal houses from the inside.

The excursion costs only €5, including the train to and from Amsterdam and entrance to all museums. There are limited spots available, so make sure to sign up in time.

New board, new faces, new skills and plenty of reasons to leave the studio for a bit. A look back at how we started the academic year:

September 9 - GMM & CoBo 🔄🍻
A new AnArchi year began by officially welcoming the 17th Board during the Change of Boards GMM, followed by the Constitution Drink to celebrate the transition together.

September 10, 17 & 24 - ArchiCAD Workshop Series with Jan Schevers 💻
Three Thursdays, plenty of shortcuts and hopefully fewer hours fighting with ArchiCAD. A big thank you to Jan Schevers for once again sharing his knowledge with us!

September 18 - Bike Tour with Burro Lubbers 🚲
Architecture on two wheels together with BURO LUBBERS! We cycled through Eindhoven to look at the city from a different perspective, with projects, stories and stops along the way.

September 22 - Meet AnArchi Drink 🍻🍔
An evening at the Koeveld to meet the people behind AnArchi, discover our committees and start the year with some new faces (and a few drinks and burgers).

🎬 Film Night @ AFFR with CHEOPS

On Friday, the 9th October, AnArchi and CHEOPS are heading to the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR) for two films from this year’s programme.

We’ve made a selection of two screenings for the evening, for which you can get tickets via the link in bio at a discounted rate. We’ll travel to Rotterdam together for the first film, so we will meet at 16:30 at the CHEOPS desk. If you only want to join for the second screening, you can meet us directly in Rotterdam.

There is a limited number of discounted tickets available. Once these are gone, you can still get a regular ticket via the AFFR website and join us for either screening.

Haverleij Excursion 🏰🌳

Discover Haverleij, Den Bosch, with renowned architect and urbanist Sjoerd Soeters!

AnArchi and INTBAU invite you to a special site visit to Haverleij, one of the Netherlands’ most distinctive New Urbanism examples. Developed since the late 1990s, Haverleij reimagines suburban living through a landscape of compact residential "castles": dense, individually designed neighbourhoods surrounded by generous shared green space.

At its heart is a masterplan based on human scale, walkability, architectural diversity and a strong sense of place. Each castle has its own identity, drawing inspiration from historic European towns and fortifications while accommodating contemporary residential life.

We’re thrilled that Sjoerd Soeters, renowned architect and urbanist and an Eindhoven alumnus, will introduce the project and personally guide us through several of the neighbourhoods he helped shape. He will share the ideas behind the masterplan, the principles of the castle typology, and how the original urban vision has evolved into the Haverleij of today.

The visit is organised in collaboration with INTBAU: the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism. Participants can also join an optional evening programme with presentations by practising INTBAU architects, followed by dinner and drinks, a great opportunity to meet and connect with architects and others from the built environment!
