ARQ international

ARQ international Formerly War Trauma Foundation. We strengthen mental health care and psychosocial support for people

ARQ International, formerly War Trauma Foundation, is the international hub of ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre. Psychiatrist Maurits Cohen had campaigned for psychological assistance to victims of World War II for years and started the organization when confronted by the images of Balkan refugees in the late nineties.

“We realized there was an immense need for psychosocial help and that what we

had learned could be made available in regions suffering war and post-war conditions.”

We soon broadened our focus to programmes in other conflict affected regions in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Joining ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre is an opportunity for us. With better access to the knowledge of ARQ we can broaden our scope to include prevention of radicalisation, staff care, sexual violence and other issues.
