🏍️ Helmets as a vaccine.

In May, our Board Member Ferry Smith joined global experts and the UN Special Envoy at the High Level Panel for Road Safety in Geneva, addressing helmet safety and powered-two wheelers.

The discussion centred on the affordability of quality helmets and the development of helmets carrying the ECE 22.06 certification (the internationally recognised quality benchmark) at a price point that makes them viable for markets across the Global South.

Ferry also presented a draft guide on correctly fitting a helmet β€” a small detail that makes a huge difference in a crash.

More to come at our webinar on motorised two-wheelers later this year.

Dr Prerana Arora Singh is a DRSC alumna from 2016.

Earlier this year, she co-founded the Bharat Association of Road Safety to integrate the work of government bodies, NGOs, corporates, and experts into a unified platform for implementing the Safe System Approach across India.

Alongside this, Prerana has trained more than 5,000 individuals, including police officers, government officials, engineers, and volunteers – applying and passing on many of the principles she encountered at DRSC.

We are so proud to have her in our network and look forward to what she does next!
