🎉We have a new board! Since the 1st of September the 2023-2024 Board of EYP the Netherlands has taken over from the 2022-2023 Board.

Sophie Gatsonides as President leads and supports the Board and National Committee.
Mara van Hermon as Secretary and International Coordinator takes care of administration and sits in the Board of National Committees.
Lara Odabas as Treasurer manages cash flows, budgets and taxes.
Minke van der Heide as Regional Conference Coordinator supports the Regional Conferences and manages participant outreach.
Raphael Gross-Chartuni as National Conference Coordinator fundraises for and supervises the National Conference.
Lucas de Graaf as HR Coordinator oversees Human Resources and Alumni events.

In the month the new Board has been busy with the transition and planning for the new term and they are excited to make some lmemories with you this year!🤩

🎞️ Summer Academy began one week ago with volunteers coming together from across the network to attend general modules on how to deliver training, and to meet the other officials.

After the participants arrived, they experienced an evening of team-building. The first day culminated in the Opening Ceremony, held where the Maastricht Treaty was signed, 30 years ago!

Sustainability is important to the European Youth Parliament, and even one of the pillars in our 5-year strategy. At every conference we organise, food and material waste is reduced and most meals are vegetarian. In Amsterdam last February we were able to use an electrical van through the Climate Youth Action Plan of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) and E.ON Stiftung. Thanks to this fund, we did not pollute the capital and kept the National Conference a more environmentally event!

We have a brand new website! eyp.nl is fully updated to meet the needs of volunteers and participants of our events.
👆 all pages are one click away through the simple navigation with no submenus
💬 our message is told with less words and more images
📨 new information is updated on all relevant pages automatically every term

👥 Organisers and Media Team Members can easily and contribute to the dedicated webpages of their conferences, so that participants and their parents and teachers stay informed and entertained!

🛠 But the website is not done yet: the Media Design Committee will keep working on the design and content. What features or information should be added or improved?

📣HEAD-ORGANISERS OF THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2023📣

Dear alumni,

We are proud to announce the Head-Organisers of the 23rd National Conference of EYP the Netherlands: Paula Rem, Nathan Zeevenhooven and Nelleke Peutz!

🏙️ The 23rd National Conference will take place in Amsterdam! They will bring the National Conference back to the capital for the first time since 2019!

📆 Amsterdam 2023 will take place on the 10th of February until the 13th of February.

Last Sunday, at the Spring Alumni Weekend, the 2022-2023 Board of EYP the Netherlands was officially installed by the Supervisory Council!

Joris Dietz as President will lead and support the Board and National Committee.
Yu Vos as Secretary & International Coordinator will take care of administration and sit in the Board of National Committees.
Presse as Treasurer will manage cashflows, budgets and taxes.
Fleur Kiliaan as National Conference Coordinator will fundraise for and supervise the National Conference.
Eva Wildöer as Regional Conference Coordinator will support the Regional Conferences and manage participant outreach.
Morris Hillebrand as HR Coordinator will oversee Human Resources and Alumni events.

In the past month the new Board members took over the work of their predecessors. In the upcoming weeks the new term kicks off with strategic plans and calls for Head-Organisers and committees!

🏆 You're a winner baby! 🏆

Yes! We are the national winner in The Netherlands of the Charlemagne Youth Prize 2022, a prize awarded by the European Parliament every year to youth-led projects that promote mutual understanding at European and international level. Congratulations to our hard-working volunteers who made this event happen, and to Studio Europa Maastricht for partnering with us.

Our event gathered 130 young people aged 15-27 from 24 countries. They engaged in dialogue about their vision on the digital future of Europe with each other and with policy-makers. The project gave young people first-hand experience of European intercultural cooperation and democratic decision-making.

Mohammed Chahim, Member of the European Parliament, said on behalf of the jury: “It is fantastic to see how the younger generation, the future of the EU, is so committed to our democracy and comes up with very interesting and well thought-out ideas!"

Catharina Rinzema, Member of the European Parliament, was also on the Jury and said: "I think it is really wonderful to see how all these young people have taken Europe to their hearts and are really actively contributing to the EU of tomorrow. So much energy and enthusiasm; it makes me proud."

We will go on to the European final round of the Charlemagne Youth Prize later this year in Aachen. A representative from our project will be invited to Aachen to attend the Ceremony and the Winners Week in May.
