Your kind donations have ensured that the ladies at our empowerment centre can spend the next few months coming up with designs that will hopefully allow them to earn enough to keep their centre running and fully sustainable!

These are the first bears that were ever made - with some design tweaks and alterations, the other picture shows how the bears looked in the end.

$43.00 “Women Amaze” donation perk will help pay for one week of salary of wages for the women

So why does UGCA pay for wages at the Centre? 50% of the people living in the slums are unemployed due to the lack of opportunities, especially for women. Many of whom lack any formal education. UGCA pays wages to the women served so they can feed and send their children to school while they learn new livelihoods in making jewelry and other crafts.

$78.00 “Women Inspire” donation perk will help pay for one week of salary of our programme coordinator

So why does UGCA pay for the programme coordinator salary? Without her tireless work to provide one-on-one
counseling for the women living with HIV/AIDS, preparing
daily meals for them, and livelihoods so every woman served can make a living selling goods and crafts, our programme would not be so successful!

So what’s a donation perk on our Indiegogo Campaign and why is it important?

$12.00 “Women Are” donation perk will help pay for one month of electricity for the Centre

So why does UGCA pay for electricity at the Centre? Only about 20% of people have access to electricity in the
slums. This includes street lighting, security lighting, and
dwelling lighting. Access to electricity at the Women’s Centre means access to the outside world, access to their meal that is also provided, and sewing machines powered by electricity.
