ุงููู | From Palestine to the Netherlands
From Palestine โ all of Palestine, to the Netherlands.
From the heart of a land where memory itself is resistance, comes the theatre performance DEADLIFT, directed by Bashar Murkus.
A unique co-production between Al-Harah Theater (Palestine) and Boy Jonkergouw Producties (Netherlands), in collaboration with Riksteatern (Sweden).
Inspired by the iconic painting โJamal Al Mahamelโ by Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, the work embodies the weight of Palestinian memory and the burden of destroyed cities transforming visual resistance into physical presence on stage.
Director Bashar Murkus writes:
โWhat city do we carry in this performance, when our cities are being erased and our souls collapse with them? How can we embody the porter who endures the burden while our people die and we stand by, merely watching?โ
Through Spotlight Team International Art, we are proud to co-curate the Contextual Side Program in partnership with PAX and Podium LUX โ opening additional spaces for dialogue, reflection, and artistic expression around the Palestinian experience.
