Bishop László Böcskei met with key supporters of Caritas Catolica on Wednesday, April 21, to discuss the current challenges faced by diocesan aid organizations.
During the meeting, representatives of the Dutch SOEB Foundation – Ria and Piet Beukenkamp, as well as Bert and Francien van Bruggen – once again proved they are much more than sponsors. Beyond delivering donations, they show genuine care for the mission of Caritas and the well-being of those it serves. They are open to thinking together about future opportunities and ensuring long-term sustainability. True to their principles, they “not only give fish, but also teach how to fish.”
“We are grateful for their heartfelt commitment to charitable service and for the opportunity to reflect together on future perspectives,” emphasized Bishop László Böcskei.
The discussion, held at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea, also highlighted the importance of volunteering in local communities, as one of the fundamental pillars of charitable work. Strengthening those already engaged in selfless service and promoting volunteering more widely were key points agreed upon by all participants.
Founded on October 12, 1992, the Stichting Oost Europa Boskoop (SOEB) has been supporting the Diocese of Oradea for over three decades, initially through a parish connection in Oşorhei, and since '99 as a main sponsor of Caritas Catolica. Today, their support focuses primarily on home care services and elderly care.
In the past year alone, they contributed to the purchase of 23 electric hospital beds, as well as a dozen wheelchairs and walking aids for four elderly homes within the diocese. They also helped furnish the storage facility of the home care center in Oradea, significantly improving the quality of life for many patients and easing the working conditions of caregivers.
The foundation’s representatives reaffirmed their intention to continue supporting Caritas Catolica in the future, within their means.
