Continence is not a side issue in bladder cancer care. It is central to quality of life, dignity and recovery.

This important opinion piece from the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition highlights the conversations too often missed: urgency, leakage, bowel changes, confidence, intimacy and the support patients need before, during and long after treatment.

Urology nurses have a vital role in making continence part of routine bladder cancer care—from honest pre-treatment information and prehabilitation, to pelvic-floor support, education and ongoing follow-up.

For World Continence Week, let’s make space for the questions patients may otherwise feel unable to ask.

Today, on World Kidney Cancer Day, we stand with everyone whose life has been touched by kidney cancer—patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and friends. Behind every diagnosis is a personal journey filled with challenges, strength, hope, and resilience. Let us take a moment to show compassion, offer support, and remind those affected that they are not alone. Together, we can raise awareness, inspire hope, and build a stronger community of care.

ESUN26 has officially started in Gdańsk! 🇵🇱

A great beginning to the 9th European School of Urology Nursing course on Intravesical Therapy for NMIBC.

Two days of learning, sharing experience, improving communication, and strengthening nursing practice in bladder cancer care. A fantastic opportunity to connect with urology nurses from across Europe and focus on what matters most: assessing the patient, not just the urine.

Thank you to all speakers, faculty, participants, and supporters for making this course such an inspiring learning environment.

The 9th ESUN Course begins this morning in Gdańsk, with a focus on intravesical therapy for patients with non‑muscle‑invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Featured in the programme is an engaging workshop led by psychologist Dr. Alex King (GB), where he will address key challenges in long treatment pathways, and how nurses can help.

Dr. King: “We can expect patients to struggle to sustain these long treatments – so let’s be prepared to help them tap into the strength and motivation they will need.” His session, Module 5, Workshop 1, will centre on case‑based group work aimed at improving communication with patients in real clinical settings. Course participants will work through practical, real‑life scenarios in small groups, exploring how to communicate effectively with patients, troubleshoot difficult moments, and manage anxiety during treatment.
