Menstrual hygiene is no longer a “welfare issue.”
It is a Constitutional Right.
In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of India affirmed that access to menstrual hygiene is part of the Right to Life, Dignity, Privacy, and Education.
Equality doesn’t mean treating everyone the same.
It means removing the barriers that push girls out of classrooms.
When a girl misses school due to lack of pads or toilets, the problem isn’t her body,
it’s systemic failure.
The ruling mandates free sanitary napkins, functional toilets, safe disposal, and stigma-free education in schools.
Because a period should never mean shame. And no girl should have to choose between dignity and education.
