Scandal of Grace—is a creative interpretation of the biblical account in the Gospel of John of the woman caught in adultery.
The work reflects the condition of humanity before a perfect and holy Creator. The woman stands guilty, abandoned by her partner, and exposed to the judgment of society. Broken and ashamed, she is brought before Jesus carrying the weight of her failures and condemnation.
Yet the story takes an unexpected turn. Instead of judgment, punishment, or rejection, she is met with mercy. Instead of condemnation, she is offered forgiveness. What is extended to her is not merely acquittal, but an invitation into relationship—a renewed relationship with a God who has always loved her and is willing to receive her in her brokenness.
Through this work, the woman becomes a symbol of all humanity: flawed, vulnerable, and in need of grace. The “divine proposal” is God’s invitation to every person to exchange guilt for forgiveness, shame for acceptance, and separation for relationship with Him.

“RISORGERO” meaning “I rise again.” Artist Rachel Neikirk on view Venice, Italy. “In 2015, I studied art and art history as an American undergraduate in Orvieto, Italy. During this time, I gained new perspective about the importance of Christ’s physical body given for us, which we participate in through the Eucharist. I was moved by the fresco of Resurrection in the Chapel of San Brizio, which very graphically depicts human bodies coming up from the ground at the end of this age, reminding us that resurrection is a tangible, concrete reality to anticipate.”

During that spring I sang in the church choir and learned this song:

Risorgerò con Te, Signor.
Mai più la morte su di me governerà.
E il tuo ritorno, o Dio,
con fede attenderò.
Io credo in Te, io amo Te. Risorgerò.

(I will rise again with you, Lord.
No more will death govern me.
And with faith I will wait for your return.
I believe in you, I love you.
I will rise again.)

This sculpture, created in 2022, depicts myself lifting up out of a grave, holding onto a golden egg as a symbol of resurrection. I used the Italian word for “I will rise again” as a nod to the song and the seed of faith that was deposited in me during my 2015 trip to Italy.

“Lead Me”- on view at Personal Structures-A collection of works that connect with loss, heartbreak, and recovery — tracing the fragile journey from grief into healing, and from absence into hope. Danica Jojich is a professor of Studio Arts in the Sculpture pro-gramme at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Danica Jojich is a multi disciplinary artist who combines image and object in installations that invite participation. With lavender filled oprema/equipment on clothing, sculptures and walking/sitting devices, Vodi Me/Lead Me, is a sculptural installation that consists of photographs, cloth-ing, walking/sitting supports, and sculpture that assist in placing one foot in front of the other. When left with half a heart through loss, assistance is envisioned in this sculpture installation that activates motion through sight, smell and kinetic imagination.
Linen clothing, walking/sitting devices and sculptures are adorned with lavender-filled pillows of various sizes and prints made from rusted half-hearts. Mona Lisa-like photographs whisper stability, confidence, mystery and calm. The act of walking, guided by smell, imagery, and sculptural assistance leads.
I arrive with poshtovanje/deep respect. Vodi Me/Lead
