GlocalShift is proud to announce the launch of hashtag , the first startup competition of its kind in Gaza since 2023.

Gaza Stars is part of our Learning to Earning programme, delivered in strategic partnership with the Abdulaziz Al Ghurair Education Fund. Together, we are putting the future of Gaza’s economy back where it belongs: in the hands of Gaza’s entrepreneurs.

Over six months, we will support 300 young entrepreneurs across two tracks:
Track A: hashtag : for founders who had a business before the conflict and are ready to rebuild.

Track B: hashtag : for aspiring entrepreneurs with a new idea that addresses an urgent post-war need.

Both tracks offer intensive training, one-to-one mentorship and seed funding of up to $7,000. A total hashtag pool of $36,000 is on the table for the founders who are ready to rebuild.

If you are an hashtag in Gaza, this is your moment. Applications are now open until midnight on June 7, 2026.

is one of ’s five regions with the highest concentrations of internally displaced people. By April 2023, over 146,000 had registered there alone, many arriving from Donbas, Kherson and Mykolaiv.

Hanna was one of them. After years in administrative roles, raising her children under the strain of war, her daughter encouraged her to join the Empowering Southern Ukraine’s Workforce programme for a baking course.

“My daughter said: ‘Mum, give it a try. Maybe this could become your thing.’ And I thought, why not take the risk?”

Run by Cegos and the GlocalShift Foundation, in partnership with Прогресильні, the programme helps IDPs and host communities find opportunities through customised vocational training, soft skills, and more.
Hanna went on to work 12-hour shifts in a commercial kitchen and today bakes bread and pastries to order from home, for a customer base she has built herself.

Her story sits within a larger shift: 1 in 2 businesses in Ukraine is now founded by a woman. “I already know that I can do more than I thought before.”

This Scientific Day brings together engineers, researchers, municipal representatives, and sector experts to discuss the current situation of Gaza’s water and wastewater systems in light of recent challenges. The event focuses on the severe impacts on infrastructure, the resulting environmental and public health consequences, and the urgent needs of communities, particularly in displacement settings.

Participants also explore practical priorities for intervention, including emergency responses, waste management, wastewater control, and the protection of water resources. The discussions emphasize the importance of coordination between municipalities, institutions, and technical experts to develop effective and sustainable solutions.

The Scientific Day serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and collective responsibility towards improving water and sanitation services and safeguarding environmental and human health in Gaza.

77% of Lebanese youth want to emigrate. Our mission is to give them a reason to stay.

Lebanon is one of the most crisis-hit countries in the world — and yet its people refuse to give up. Learning to Earning is a joint programme by GlocalShift Foundation and the Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund, delivered on the ground through three extraordinary local partners: RPS MENA, HAND Organization, and Ruwwad al Tanmeya - Lebanon.

Together, we’re equipping Lebanese youth and refugees with certified skills, creating real pathways to decent work.

Because resilience isn’t just surviving a crisis. It’s building something after it.

Gaza is facing a severe sewage and sanitation crisis following widespread destruction of infrastructure and mass displacement.

Sewage pumping stations and drainage systems have been damaged or destroyed, forcing wastewater to overflow into streets, displacement camps, and rainwater basins that are repeatedly exceeding capacity. This has created serious environmental contamination risks affecting groundwater, soil, and coastal waters.

Inside overcrowded shelters, families rely on unsafe sanitation systems, leading to frequent sewage overflow, worsening hygiene conditions, and the rapid spread of diseases such as stomach infections and other waterborne illnesses.

The crisis has also led to a sharp increase in mosquitoes and rats, with rodents entering tents in search of food, further endangering displaced families—especially pregnant women, children, and vulnerable individuals.
