Sustainable Livelihood
Our Prophet ﷺ said: “Eat the oil and use it on your hair and skin, for it comes from a blessed tree.” as reported by Abu Aseed. [Al-Tirmidhi, 1775]
Far too many people in the world are born into a life of abject poverty, growing up without access to what many take for granted: food, education, healthcare and opportunities to make a living... and the cycle continues, generation after generation.
Supporting livelihood projects helps break that cycle and empower the world’s poorest communities to become self-sufficient.
This s also the core of The Shade's mission.
Somalia Livelihood projects
Somalia is facing a prolonged humanitarian crisis, with over 6.5 million people experiencing acute hunger and more than 3 million displaced due to drought, conflict, and economic instability. Beyond food shortages, families are losing their ability to survive independently, making livelihood support through tools, seeds, small business aid, and cash assistance essential to restore income, dignity, and long-term resilience.
Olive trees in Palestine
Olive trees carry more than an economic significance in the lives of Palestinians. They are symbolic of Palestinians’ attachment to their land.
More than livelihood; aliveness! Palestinian resistance and resilience. Olive trees are also blessed trees.
Coffee trees in Yemen
Extreme water shortages have forced Yemeni families to import 90% of their foods. Only a third of them have access to mains water, and the cultivation the narcotic plant Qat uses up around a third of Yemen’s water.
Yemeni coffee tree farming uses less water and are highly sought-after beans.
Fig, grape, and walnut trees in Iraq
Iraq was once famous for its high quality fruits, including pomegranate, apricot, figs, walnuts and grapes.
But years of conflict, poor irrigation, and rising fuel prices have decimated the farms and farming families, and driven up the price of local fruits.
We pray our humble donation via
will have long lasting benefits for those in needs and themselves empower others to continue this ongoing charity.
