Huizen’s Heritage Finds Its Home

We’re proud to share that the Ode aan Nederland artwork of Huizen has found its final home at the Huizer Museum! Thanks to the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, this piece now stands as a lasting tribute to the town’s rich traditions and cultural heritage.

By placing these works in the heart of the communities they celebrate, we hope to honour and preserve the beauty of Dutch klederdracht for generations to come.

A Permanent Home for Marken’s Heritage!

We’re thrilled to share that another piece from "Ode aan Nederland" has found its place! The Marken artwork, donated by the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, now has a permanent home at Stichting Dorpshuis Het Trefpunt—the heart of the community.

This is more than just a photograph on a wall; it’s a tribute to the rich traditions and identity of Marken, where heritage is lived and celebrated every day. We’re honoured to see these works become part of the places that mean so much to the communities they portray.

A Special Home for the Artwork in Rijssen 🎉

We are incredibly proud to see the people of Rijssen come together to officially hand over Jimmy Nelson’s artwork—donated by the Jimmy Nelson Foundation—to the Rijssen Museum. This piece, part of the Ode aan Nederland exhibition, now finds a permanent home where it can continue to celebrate and inspire appreciation for Dutch heritage and traditional dress.

🎥 A Historic Moment on the Zaanse Schans

Saturday, January 25th, something truly special happened. As the grand finale of the foundation's project "Ode aan Nederland" at the Zaans Museum, twelve Dutch communities proudly took to the open-air runway in their stunning traditional dress. Against the backdrop of historic windmills, it was a breathtaking celebration of Dutch heritage and identity. ✨

But this day was about more than just celebration—it was about giving back.

Through the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, we were honoured to donate a collection of artworks to the communities who brought Between the Sea and the Sky to life. These images now belong to them—a lasting tribute to their traditions, their stories, their pride.

📍 Over 50,000 visitors experienced this exhibition—an incredible achievement! All proceeds from ticket sales remained with the museums, ensuring they can continue their vital work in preserving heritage.

Join us for a Donation event and open-air fashion show this Saturday!

The twenty regional and traditional costume groups photographed by Jimmy Nelson for his book Between the Sea and the Sky will gather on Saturday afternoon at the . From 2:00 to 3:00 PM, they will showcase their beautiful traditional attire during a unique open-air fashion show.

This extraordinary fashion show is free and open to the public, offering a rare opportunity to discover the diversity and beauty of Dutch traditions. The Zaanse Schans, with its historic windmills and authentic charm, provides the perfect backdrop for this celebration of culture and heritage.

As a token of gratitude for their participation and as a tribute to their resilience in keeping these traditions alive, the Jimmy Nelson Foundation will donate a piece of artwork to each of the twenty communities. This gesture ensures that a piece of art returns home, serving as a lasting reminder of their rich culture and our shared mission to preserve and celebrate it.
