This Sunday evening 7pm, I get to play with the lovely Michelle in our cosy Amsterdam space The Godown!
We first met in Singapore last year, when Marcel and I performed in another similarly cosy spot - Thirdspace Sessions on Goodman Road. She was full of energy and joy that was hard to resist and we kept in touch since.
Now, in a few days, a year and a half later, Michelle is coming from Singapore to be our ‘artist in residence’ performing a selection of songs that reflect on her own deep connection with Amsterdam and the Netherlands - which was a new story to me. How I love how our view of the world can suddenly become a lot smaller and closer like this ☺️
Speaking of smaller, Michelle will be performing much more intimate versions of her songs that are usually backed by a string orchestra, brass, drums, bass, guitars, you name it! She will be on vocals and piano, accompanied by a pop up string quartet in which I will have the honour of playing alongside the amazing talents of Clym (cello), Julie (violin) and Martine (viola).
