Cinekid for Professionals Cinekid for Professionals is an annual industry event in Amsterdam during Cinekid Festival in October.

Cinekid for Professionals is the industry event during the Cinekid Festival in October that brings together TV buyers, producers, distributors, directors, networks, sales agents, entertainment companies, academics and journalists who maintain a laser focus on children’s media. Located in Amsterdam, Cinekid is the world’s largest media festival for children. Every year more than 50.000 children are

given the opportunity to visit over 500 media productions selected by the festival: feature films, children’s documentaries, short films, animations, television series and single productions, cross media productions, interactive installations and set-ups as well as workshops. During Cinekid for Professionals you can explore international co-productions, give your programme international exposure and discuss major issues in kids media. Cinekid offers various events to expand your professional network and meet like-minded professionals.

Welcome back. The road to Cinekid for Professionals 2026 starts here!

Every year, filmmakers, producers, writers, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents and other children’s media professionals come together in Amsterdam to exchange ideas, discover new projects and build international collaborations.

From pitch sessions and one-on-one meetings to talks, screenings and talent development, these are some of the moments that have shaped previous editions. From 13 to 15 October 2026, we will come together again during Cinekid Festival.

We are excited to announce the selection for Script LAB 2026-27! 📣 This 13th edition features 14 original stories from 10 countries – including 8 live action projects, 4 animations, 1 documentary, and a live action–animation hybrid. 🎬

This year we proudly welcome two new partners: the Estonian Film Institute and Slovenian Film Centre. We’re also thrilled to include our first project from Taiwan, a milestone for Script LAB’s international reach! 🌍

Cinekid Script LAB is organised with the support of: the Athens International Children’s Film Festival (ATHICFF), Estonian Film Institute ( ), Flanders Audiovisual Fund (Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) ), Icelandic Film Centre (Icelandic Film Centre), Netherlands Film Fund (Nederlands Filmfonds), Norwegian Film Institute (Norsk filminstitutt), Slovenian Film Centre (Slovenski filmski center - SFC ), and the Swedish Film Institute (Swedish Film Institute).

We're thrilled to announce the winners of the Cinekid x Amarte MediaLab 2026 Open Call. Out of 17 outstanding submissions, two projects have been selected to receive €15,000 each for the development and presentation of their concepts. For the first time, additional support will help ensure these works can travel beyond Cinekid Festival to schools, museums, libraries, and festivals across the country.

🤖 Circuit City by Maryam de Vries and Lucas Dekker is an innovative mixed reality experience where children collaborate across physical and virtual spaces to design and bring robots to life.

🪩 Luma Loop by Studio Apvis invites children to create music, movement and light together through a playful installation inspired by music-making software and powered entirely by creativity and collaboration.
Both projects beautifully embody this year's theme, Celebrating Together (as Cinekid marks its 40th anniversary), by putting shared experiences, imagination and play at their core.

One week left to apply for the Cinekid Script LAB 2026/2027!

Are you developing a children’s feature or series and looking to strengthen your next draft in an international, supportive environment? Join a group of writers working on their projects during Cinekid for Professionals in October 2026 and the Berlinale in February 2027, guided by specialised coaches in a tailored development trajectory.

Eligible: feature and series projects in different stages of development (live-action, animation or documentary).

Call for entries! Will your film or series be shown at Cinekid Festival 2026? Don't forget to send us your production aimed at children up to age 14 before June 2, 2026.

For this year's festival you can enter feature films, short films and Dutch series productions for children up to age 14, with a preference for productions that adress societal issues or encourage creative thinking. Check out the guidelines and enter your production via the link in our bio.

Open Call MediaLab 🚨 Cinekid and the Amarte Foundation are looking for makers who want to produce a new immersive and interactive new media work for the Cinekid MediaLab 2026. 🎮 Are you interested in making work for children (Ages 3-14) and would you like to see it in motion during the 40th edition of Cinekid Festival during Fall break? Apply now! 📩

If awarded, two creators (or collectives) will receive an amount of €15,000,- (including fees, material, technical and presentation costs) to develop an interactive work for the MediaLab under the guidance of Cinekid.

From 12–16 April, the Cinekid Directors LAB 2026 brought together a group of directors in Amsterdam working on children’s film and series projects approaching production.

During five intensive days, participants worked on their shooting scripts, directing approach and collaboration with young actors, supported by experienced mentors and guest speakers from across the field.

The Junior Co-production Market 2026 is open for submissions 📣

The market brings together producers and creators working on children’s films and series to present their projects to international industry partners during Cinekid for Professionals on 13–14 October 2026. Projects for children’s feature films and episodic content (live-action, animation and documentary) in development or post-production can be submitted and selected teams will present their work during the market and become eligible for industry awards.
