Our work under the Gender Equality Fund is progressing!

This month, Y+ Global supported the GEF Country Lead in Nigeria- the African Network of Adolescents and Young Persons’ Development (ANAYD) in convening 14 GEF grantees in Abuja.
The coordination meeting was critical for strengthening GEF implementation in Nigeria and consolidating project gains and impact. We believe learning and exchange among grantees, enhances collaboration and coordination for joint advocacy and alignment on meaningful participation of AGYW in key advocacy spaces and moments, such as the GC8 process.

We will continue to hold space for AGYW-led and AGYW-serving organizations.

Our HER Voice Fund Ambassador from Lesotho 🇱🇸 was recognized as an Outstanding Gender Equality Champion in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026!!! She is also as the youngest recipient of this award. 🔥

This recognition from the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development, United Nations Population Fund in Lesotho, and Vodacom Foundation Lesotho is a reminder that the work we do to advance gender equality, youth leadership, and SRHR truly matters.

Patience remains committed to amplifying young voices, challenging inequality, and creating spaces where girls and young women can lead, speak, and thrive.

Call for Applications: HER Voice Fund Ambassadors (Kenya & Zimbabwe)

The is seeking adolescent girls and young women aged 18–28 from Kenya and Zimbabwe to serve as national Ambassadors.

Ambassadors will support advocacy efforts, engage in national and regional spaces, strengthen networks, and elevate the voices of AGYW in HIV and SRHR responses.

On the sidelines of ICASA 2025, the Gender Equality Fund took part in the 2025 GEF Partners Convening in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 (1–2 December).

Convened by The Global Fund, the meeting provided a strategic space for partners to review progress, address emerging challenges, and strengthen collaboration across country, regional, and global advocacy efforts, particularly amid global funding constraints and rising opposition to gender equality and rights.

Adolescent girls and young women bear the largest burden when it comes to HIV new infections and SRHR barriers.

The Gender Equality Fund commemorated World AIDS Day by uniting the voices of communities and releasing a joint statement urging the global community to immediately tackle the enduring gender disparities that continue to render AGYW vulnerable to HIV.
