Innovation in sport rarely begins in institutions — it much more often starts in communities. 🚵 That is where encouragement and support to experiment, innovate, fail, and try again should flow. 🧪

Our latest article, “Sports for Innovation: Supporting Experimentation Turns Ideas into Change,” explores how grassroots ideas grow into wider systems change when they are met with credibility, trust, flexibility, and visibility. The stories of Ignite365 innovators show that innovation is rarely linear. It requires space to experiment, adapt, learn, and refine. 💡

For International Women's Day, we're turning to our partners and grantees to celebrate how they use the power of sport and play to change the playing field for gender justice. 🏃‍♀️⚽🛹

From football pitches to coding labs, from community spaces for young mothers to financial literacy games — sport and play are so much more than recreation. They're how girls, women and gender-expansive people come together, build power, and rewrite the rules.

When girls play, they learn to stand up, speak up, and lead. And when girls lead, the world changes. 💪

"Youth sports are most powerful when they are fun, accessible, and transformative; when they promote positivity, welcome inclusivity, and encourage growth, connection, and empowerment. It is a space where every child can belong, every voice is heard, and the lessons of empathy, teamwork, and resilience extend beyond the field into everyday life." — Reimagining Youth Sport: A Decision-Making Playbook for Youth Agency

Ashoka, an innovator of the Collective365 and part of the Olympism365 Innovation Hub, recently published the "Reimagining Youth Sport: A Decision-Making Playbook for Youth Agency". More about the playbook here ➡️ https://beyondsport.org/2026/01/29/reimagining-youth-sport-ashokas-playbook-for-advancing-youth-agency/

Beyond Sport

From coaches to funders, the decisions shaping youth sport matter. In a new playbook on reimagining youth sport, Ashoka invites leaders across the global sport ecosystem to rethink priorities and center youth agency in how sport is designed, delivered and experienced.

This moment in history can feel overwhelming—but it’s also a moment for smart, collective action.

The evidence is clear: investing in women-led movements accelerates progress on climate, democracy, and human rights—and women’s and feminist funds are critical to making that investment reach where it matters most.

That’s why hashtag , a new campaign to mobilise $600M USD annually for feminist movements, is so timely. It is about scaling the feminist funding ecosystem, making visible what’s already working, and moving resources to the right hands at the scale this moment demands.

🤖 Exploring Responsible AI in Sport for Development

Great insights from the recent Olympism365 Innovation Hub community session on how AI can drive positive change across sport and society. 🌍

The discussion focused on real-world experiments using AI for language inclusion, deep research, and knowledge sharing. One highlight: NOVA, an AI learning companion that offers real-time, multilingual, and personalised interactive experiences. Check NOVA out here ➡️ https://o365innovationhub.beehiiv.com/

Many of the 77 innovators across 42 countries in the O365 Innovation Hub are already using generative AI for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, curriculum design, and communications. We heard inspiring examples from:
💡 Impact Academy Egypt, who have used AI to plan training space renovations.
💡 Gastro Forestry Project Indonesia, who are building an AI agent for environmental monitoring and data management.

As AI continues to influence how we design and deliver sport for sustainable development, the Olympism365 Innovation Hub is creating spaces for shared learning and exploration. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, practitioners, experts, and innovators, we’re on a collective learning journey of how AI can be understood and applied responsibly, from ethical considerations to real-world case studies. ⚽💡

🚀 The Olympism365 Innovation Hub is a collaboration between the International Olympic Committee, Beyond Sport and Women Win designed to support a diverse community of innovators leading new and impactful approaches to sport for sustainable development.
