⛓️‍💥 Wan Switi Manspasi Dey! Happy Keti Koti! ⛓️‍💥
Today, we commemorate and celebrate Keti Koti, the day on July 1, 1863, when slavery was abolished in 🇸🇷Suriname and the former Netherlands Antilles.
(Let’s not forget 1873: This mandatory 10-year transition period ("state supervision") ended on July 1, 1873. Only then were enslaved people truly free to leave the plantations and live their own lives).

Keti Koti reminds us of the importance of freedom, dignity, and equality for everyone. Together, we continue building a world where everyone can be themselves and feel seen, heard, and valued.

Wishing you a meaningful Keti Koti and a day of reflection, remembrance, and celebration.

BLACK TO THE FUTURE II (‘19-‘21) was the follow up of 'BLACK TO THE FUTURE (‘17-‘18)- A Sankofa approach to the exchange of youth work practice‘. BTTF II is a 24 months strategic partnership and inter-generational project for youth workers from the African Diaspora in Munich, Rotterdam, Lisbon and Manchester.
