Global Voices Central and East Europe

Global Voices Central and East Europe Join in our community! Global Voices is incorporated in the Netherlands as Stichting Global Voices, a nonprofit foundation.

Global Voices is a community of more than 300 bloggers and translators around the world who work together to bring you reports from blogs and citizen media everywhere, with emphasis on voices that are not ordinarily heard in international mainstream media. Millions of people are blogging, podcasting, and uploading photos, videos, and information across the globe, but unless you know where to look,

it can be difficult to find respected and credible voices. Our international team of volunteer authors and part-time editors are active participants in the blogospheres they write about on Global Voices. We do not have an office, but work as a virtual community across multiple time zones, meeting in person only when the opportunity arises (usually during our Summits). We rely on grants, sponsorships, editorial commissions, and donations to cover our costs. Eastern and Central Europe Section http://globalvoicesonline.org/-/world/eastern-central-europe/

The Bosnian band Dubioza Kolektiv has released a new song that offers a sharp and funny critique of society’s growing dependence on artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic decision-making, enabling a technocracy — (in the sense of rule by tech billionaire oligarchs) — instead of democracy.

Known for blending humor, political commentary, and catchy rhythms, this internationally popular band continues its tradition of addressing contemporary issues through satire.

The hybrid documentary film “Fiume o morte!” (“Rijeka or death!”) by Croatian writer and director Igor Bezinović adds a fresh perspective to the already well-established view of fascism as a political movement rooted in propaganda spectacle, mass mobilization, and nationalist myth-making.

Igor Bezinović’s film portrays the “pioneer” of Italian fascism, Gabriele D’Annunzio, through a critical lens, as befits the role model for the fascist leader Benito Mussolini.
