🏅Last week in Glasgow, we had the privilege of recognising two outstanding contributions to international higher education with the 2026 EAIE Awards:

Scholars at Risk received the Award for Excellence in Internationalisation, honouring 25 years of work protecting scholars and defending academic freedom around the world.

Professor Sir Steve Smith, UK Government International Education Champion, received the Award for Vision and Leadership, recognising a career dedicated to advancing international education, strengthening global partnerships and shaping policy and practice across borders.

💬As EAIE President Sara López Selga reflected: “When looking at this year’s two award winners, one common thread stands out: a commitment to creating opportunities for others.”

👏Please join us in congratulating Scholars at Risk and Sir Steve Smith on this well-deserved recognition.
