We’re overwhelmed by the intensely beautiful experience that Diner Obscure turned out to be!

We’re beyond proud that we were able to bring to life three unforgettable nights of opulence, sensuality, and decadent beauty 🍎🩸🐇 Thank you everyone who has been a part of it, whether as a guest or co-creator.

What an immense joy to collaborate with such inspiring group of performers. Your dedication, trust, and bold creativity brought these enigmatic pieces to life in ways we could only dream of.

Diner Obscure is a production especially close to our hearts—one that we’ve poured our time, energy, and passion into over the past months.

We’re still riding the wave of this edition’s success and are already deep in preparations for the next chapter, coming in Autumn 2025.

Our old friends definitely remember Diner Obscure—after all, this is where it all began. Our very first event took place in 2013 in an abandoned warehouse in Amsterdam East. We’ve stayed true to what we love: bringing the unexpected and amplifying the voices of the creatures of the night, turning performance and nightlife into an art form.

We’re joining forces with .gui.amsterdam to offer you an opulent 4-course dinner show on May 8-10 at Door Open Space NDSM.

Artist Talk by . As a part of our residency programme, we invited mentors to help weave together the conceptual and technical skills developed throughout the residency, in a powerful convergence of theory, practice, and artistic creation.

Bogomir Doringer’s talk delved into how dancing crowds can serve as indicators of social urgency and transformation. Bogomir Doringer introduced his concept of the “dance of urgency”—a form of movement that arises during personal and collective crises, harnessing dance’s empowering potential for individuals and communities. Supported by archival footage and visual examples, this session offered residents & guests deep insights into the political dimensions of dance and the dynamic power it holds for those who dare to move.

We’d like to invite you to the 1st November performance event “Choreomania - Bodily Excess, Collective Unrest’ where five of our artists-in-residence will unveil their newly developed works. Link in bio.

The performances will unfold across multiple buildings within Hembrugterrein - a former military base and weapon factory, where our residents have been living and working for the past two months. The performances, shaped by the possibilities of the theme Choreomania – Bodily Excess, Collective Unrest, are site-specific creations that weave together personal and collective experiences that focus on notions of queerness, alterity, (dis)order, excessiveness, disciplinarity and resistance.

Choreomania, deemed ‘the dancing plague’ by those in positions of medical-, religious-, and/or social power, describes instances of collective mass eruptions that occurred primarily between the 14th and 17th century. These ‘dance manias’ are conventionally portrayed as unregulated frenzied gatherings wherein people participated until complete exhaustion.

Throughout this programme, we centred choreomania as a collective response to social crises that finds manifestation (with)in and through the body. In doing so, we questioned normative processes and relations of power that seek to regulate dissent and disruption by framing them as uncivil, diseased, or mad — positioning them as other.
