Workplace Pride, together with Erasmus University Rotterdam and our Academic Community, proudly launched the QPOC Vision Paper on Intersectional Workplace Inclusion.

The event brought together researchers, community leaders, professionals, students, and inclusion advocates to explore how organisations can move beyond intention and take meaningful action toward inclusion, belonging, and representation.

Through powerful discussions, lived experiences, research insights, and collaborative dialogue, one message became clear: intersectional inclusion cannot be an afterthought — it must be embedded into leadership, policy, and workplace culture.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important conversation and helped create a space for openness, learning, and connection.

How do we move from performative inclusion to real intersectional change in the workplace? Join us on Thursday, 21 May 2026, for the launch of the Workplace Pride Q***r People of Colour (QPOC) Vision Paper at Erasmus University College in Rotterdam.

Developed through a collaboration between Erasmus University researchers and Workplace Pride members, the paper explores the lived experiences, challenges, strengths, and perspectives of QPOC professionals in the workplace.

We are also honoured to welcome keynote speaker Shari Jae Ebere.
Born in Biafra, Nigeria, and brought to the Netherlands as a refugee during the civil war, Shari brings a powerful perspective shaped by her experiences as a transgender woman of colour, disability advocate, workplace resilience trainer, and Chair of Trans United Europe.

The event will explore:
• Leadership representation
• Community and belonging
• Inclusive policy design
• What organisations can do to create meaningful intersectional inclusion

This launch is an opportunity to connect, learn, reflect, and contribute to shaping workplaces where inclusion becomes reality. This event is open to everyone. You do not need to identify as QPOC to attend — allies are warmly welcome.

Today, we remember.

Leon Pieters, Board Member and Mauricio Rojas, Event Manager laying a wreath at the Homomonument, beside the Westerkerk in Amsterdam — a powerful moment of reflection for the LGBTIQ+ lives lost during World War II.

Thousands were persecuted, imprisoned, and murdered simply for who they were.

This annual memorial is not just about the past.
It asks you to look at the present.

Where do we stand today?
Who in our community still feels unsafe, unheard, or unseen?

Remembrance must lead to action.
Solidarity must be visible.
And resilience must be shared.

Stand together. Speak up. Protect each other.

We remember. Always.

Workplace Pride hosted its first conference in Brazil 🇧🇷 in São Paulo, bringing together business leaders, government, and civil society for a focused day on urgency and action.
Key highlights:
Inclusion framed as responsibility, not intention
Strong call for government and business collaboration
Clear gap identified between policy and lived employee experience
Fragmented approaches still slowing real progress in many organisations
Across discussions, a consistent picture emerged:
Policies exist, but are not consistently implemented
Leadership accountability remains uneven
Measurement and impact tracking are still underused
Trans inclusion requires urgent, coordinated action
A central message was clear:
Inclusion is not a “soft” topic — it directly drives performance, innovation, and retention.
Breakout sessions focused on practical action:
Measuring meaningful KPIs for inclusion
Building trans-inclusive workplace practices
The role of allies and visible role models
Strengthening collaboration between business and civil society
Diplomatic voices reinforced that even in a rapidly changing world, human connection, empathy, and dialogue remain essential.
Closing message:
Inclusion must move from statements to measurable action — and from intention to impact.
Question for you:
Where is the biggest gap in your organisation right now — policy, leadership, or ex*****on?

Community Update! Young@Workplace Pride board hosted a powerful and inspiring book interview with journalist and author Pim Blom 🏳️‍🌈, who joined us online from Hanoi to talk about his new book Through the Rainbow Ceiling (“Door het regenboogplafond”).

In this interview, Pim explores why a “rainbow ceiling” still exists in many workplaces today. He interviewed fifteen LGBTIQ+ leaders across business and government, uncovering honest, sometimes vulnerable stories about authenticity, leadership, and navigating environments that aren’t always inclusive.

During our conversation, Pim shared what struck him most while writing the book: the gap between the 18% of LGBTIQ+ people in society and the fewer than 1% represented in top leadership roles — and what organisations stand to gain when more q***r leaders can rise without barriers.

Our mentors and mentees reflected on the qualities LGBTIQ+ leaders bring to the table: empathy, resilience, perspective‑taking, and a deep understanding of inclusion.

A big thank you to Pim Blom for his openness, his storytelling, and for challenging us to think differently about representation and leadership.
Let’s keep breaking ceilings!
