ACTION · No Isolated Incidents

The 2025 killing of the 21-year-old Lorenz A. by a police officer in Oldenburg, Germany, caused outrage across the country, but is sadly only one expression of the racist profiling and systematic violence that has characterized the actions of the German police for years.

On the 15th of March, the day against police violence, - a coalition of radically left initiatives that raises awareness about police brutality - organized its first demonstration as an alliance to commemorate Lorenz and emphasize the systematic pattern that connects his killing to other victims of police violence. Afterwards, over 800 protesters walked through the streets of Berlin to show their collective anger and urge the police to take responsibility for their actions and face their racial biases.

Vandaag leek ons een goede dag om jullie eraan te herinneren dat Het Actiefonds geen directeur heeft🤷

Het Actiefonds is vóór activisten, dóór activisten.

Wij werken met een klein horizontaal team en ongeveer 50 vrijwilligers en kunnen zo met relatief kleine bedragen een groot verschil maken voor activisten.

Overigens is hetgeen dat Het Actiefonds heeft overgehouden aan de anti-apartheidsstrijd in Zuid-Afrika de bedankbrieven van het ANC in ons archief.

ACTIE · Bevrijdingsdag: de dag tegen fascisme

81 jaar na de capitulatie van nazi-Duitsland, ontstak de Nederlandse premier op 5 mei opnieuw het jaarlijkse Bevrijdingsvuur. Hoewel het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog natuurlijk het vieren waard is, is er minder reden tot feest wanneer het over de staat van de wereld van nu gaat.

Zo werd nog geen week later een asielzoekerscentrum in Loosdrecht in de fik gestoken door racistische relschoppers die de prinsenvlag voerden, net als de NSB’ers in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, maar ook nazistische en antisemitische leuzen scandeerden en publieke voorzieningen vernielden. Toch blijft een strenge afkeuring van dergelijke rellen uit bij de meeste Haagse politici en wordt de angst van de belaagde asielzoekers doodgezwegen.

Om te benadrukken dat “nooit meer” geldt voor iedereen en voor altijd, kwamen op dezelfde 5 mei zo’n vijfhonderd demonstranten samen in Utrecht, na een oproep van de groep . De protesteerders onderstreepten dat een wereld waarin alle mensen op aarde werkelijk vrij en voorzien zijn in hun basisbehoeften mogelijk is, maar dat autocratisch economisch beleid en fascistische retoriek, verhuld in een democratische huls, zo’n wereld in de weg staan.

Pas als een absolute, radicale vorm van vrijheid zegeviert en Nederland haar medeplichtigheid onder ogen komt, kan Bevrijdingsdag echt een feest van betekenis worden. Starting today, Uganda is now one of the countries that has a 'foreign agent' law. A disturbing worldwide trend that puts activists in even greater danger than they were before. This new law criminalises the promotion of the "interests of a foreigner against the interests of Uganda". From what we've seen in other countries, in reality this means that everyone who fights against the regime can be prosecuted as a 'foreign agent'. The consequences of that are up to 10 years of imprisonment for those found 'guilty'.

This does not mean we will stop supporting activists in Uganda, who fight against their government in hopes of making their part of the world a little bit better. Instead, we will now treat all requests from Uganda as fully confidential, and as such won't be able to report on them on social media and in our newsletter. We already do this for other countries such as Russia and Georgia.

We stand in solidarity with the people in Uganda, and hope that this law will quickly be revoked❤️‍🔥

ACTION · PROTESTS AT COP30 USING BOOKBLOC

At the end of 2025 the UN climate summit called COP30, took place in Belém in the Amazon, a frontline of ecological destruction and indigenous resistance. To protest during this gathering in a safe and impactful way, activists needed creative tools to protect themselves with, so that they could still make their voices heard and build international visibility. As BookBloc’s (oversized books as shields) have already been used with much success in The Netherlands, the strategy was adapted by the BookBlocBrigade and Brazilian movements for the COP30.

This action was funded by the Climate Justice Grants of Het Actiefonds.

DE STRAAT OP vóór SOLIDARITEIT: VLUCHTELINGEN WELKOM

Donderdag 21 mei - 18:30 - Utrecht

Na het geweld van de afgelopen weken is het tijd voor een ander geluid. Wij gaan de straat op vóór solidariteit, wij zeggen WEES WELKOM tegen mensen op de vlucht. Want waar je ook vandaan komt, wat voor huidskleur of religie je ook hebt, uiteindelijk willen en verdienen we allemaal hetzelfde. Een veilig huis, een veilige toekomst voor onze kinderen, betaalbare boodschappen.

Daarom gaan we naast onze buren staan, of ze nou gevlucht zijn of altijd in een veilig land hebben gewoond, of ze een migratieachtergrond hebben of nooit uit hun geboorteland zijn verhuisd. Een samenleving maak je samen.

🔥🔥🔥Art is always political!🔥🔥🔥

The Venice Biennale is one of the biggest and most prestigious art events of Europe. Twenty-eight countries all have their own pavilion there, where art chosen especially for the Biennale is exhibited. Russia had been banned by the organisation of participation since 2022, because of their invasion of Ukraine.

This year it was announced that Russia would be allowed to participate again, as the Biennale was supposedly above geopolitical conflicts. The activists of P***y Riot disagree with the participation of Russia. They state that the inclusion of Putin's Russia normalises his crimes against his own people, and against the people of Ukraine.

On the 6th of May they protested against the Russian inclusion of the art event, by protesting in front of the entrance, complete with loud guitars and a punk song specifically written for this demo. Because of the action the doors of the Biennale had to close for a while, and Russia's re-entry of the event at least didn't go by silently.

ACTION · No Tech for Apartheid and Genocide

The Israeli state increasingly relies on strengthened ties with international tech companies to commit genocide in Gaza and expand its apartheid regime in the West Bank. The French transport company Alstom, for example, is a major partner in the Jerusalem Light Rail project, while German tech conglomerate Siemens has been awarded the contract to build subsea cables that will connect Israel and Europe’s electricity grids, both improving life in the illegal settlements on the West Bank.

In response, a global movement of tech workers has called upon their employers to terminate cooperation with or investment in the Israeli state and prevent their work from being used to further violate human rights: No Tech for Apartheid and Genocide!

In Cluj-Napoca - ‘the Silicon Valley of Eastern Europe’ - our friends organized a campaign of webinars, event boycotts, demonstrations and direct actions to disrupt business as usual in the city. With the support of Het Actiefonds, the organizers ‘poster stormed’ the companies’ buildings to expose their complicity in Palestinian suffering and conducted engagement actions to convince unaware tech workers to support the cause.

Since the local media refused to report on the campaign, the activists have now launched a campaign at the national level: across five Romanian cities and in collaboration with twelve other collectives.
