How do generative AI systems influence our understanding of race, culture, and identity? ๐Ÿค–๐ŸŒ

This infographic examines how racial and cultural stereotyping can emerge in generative AI outputs, including both image-generation systems and text-based models.

As generative AI becomes increasingly embedded in education, communication, and everyday digital life, the values and biases contained within training data can shape public perceptions and reinforce existing inequalities.

๐Ÿ“Š The research explores:

โ€ข demographic and cultural representation in AI outputs

โ€ข algorithmic bias and cultural framing

โ€ข differences between multilingual AI-generated content

โ€ข ethical and societal implications of biased AI systems

๐Ÿ’ก It also highlights the importance of digital literacy, inclusive datasets, ethical education, and shared responsibility in building fair and human-centred AI technologies.

๐ŸŒ The OTT Conference 2026: A Gathering of Global Think Tank Leaders

Last week, the European Student Think Tank, represented by our President , had the privilege of participating in the 10th annual OTT Conference in Rabat, Morocco ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

The conference brought together nearly 150 think tank leaders from over 50 nationalities and institutions worldwide ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿค

Alongside inspiring keynote speeches and discussions on the future of think tanks, EST also contributed directly to the programme. As a grantee of the Building for the Future Initiative (Cycle III), we co-hosted a parallel session together with Network for Open Science, Policy Institute, and Think Tank ๐ŸŽคโœจ

Our session โ€” โ€œThe Role of Student-Led Think Tanks: Education, Impact, and Professionalisationโ€ โ€” explored how youth-led and hybrid think tanks are evolving as spaces for learning, policy engagement, and institutional innovation. Discussions focused on sustainability, youth participation in policymaking, professionalisation, credibility, and long-term collaboration.

The conference was an invaluable opportunity to connect with experts from around the world, strengthen our international network, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations. We are especially grateful to Think Tanks for making this experience possible ๐Ÿ™

One keynote speaker captured the spirit of the conference perfectly:
โ€œAll the knowledge we need is in this room โ€” it does not exist yet, we will produce it.โ€ ๐Ÿ’ก

At a time when AI can process existing knowledge faster than ever, the real challenge remains deeply human: deciding which questions matter, which voices deserve to be heard, and which ideas are worth bringing into the room.

This is where youth-led think tanks like EST can play a unique role โ€” not only as producers of ideas, but as communities shaping the conversations that will define the future ๐Ÿš€

๐ŸŒ Last week, young people from across Europe came together for the European Youth Week 2026 event *โ€œA Europe of Strangers? Youth Perspectives on Solidarity, Fairness & Belongingโ€*, organised by the European Student Think Tank together with the University of Tor Vergata in Rome and Central European University in Vienna.

Through interactive discussions and open debates, participants reflected on what solidarity, fairness and belonging really mean in todayโ€™s Europe โ€” and why, despite living in an increasingly connected continent, many young people still feel excluded or unheard.

๐Ÿ’ฌ From sharing personal experiences to challenging different perspectives, the event created a space for honest conversations, critical thinking, and collective ideas for change.

โœจ A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Rome and online and contributed with their energy, insights, and vision for a more inclusive Europe. The conversations started here are only the beginning.

๐ŸŒ Climate change is increasingly recognised as a โ€œthreat multiplier,โ€ shaping patterns of instability in regions neighbouring the EU and beyond.

๐Ÿ”บ In the Mediterranean and the Sahel, rising temperatures, water scarcity, and agricultural decline interact with existing socioeconomic and political vulnerabilities, contributing to displacement and growing migration pressures.

๐Ÿ”บ Yet, EU border security debates continue to focus primarily on irregular migration and smuggling networks, while climate risks remain only partially integrated into strategic planning.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Understanding the climateโ€“security nexus is therefore essential to developing more anticipatory and preventive EU policies, ones that address the root causes of instability, not just its symptoms.

Youth Perspectives on Solidarity, Fairness & Belonging

๐Ÿ”น Join us for European Youth Week 2026!

Europe is more connected than ever โ€” we move, study and work across borders.
But many still feel like they donโ€™t truly belong.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Letโ€™s talk about it.
Through an interactive experience, weโ€™ll explore what happens when solidarity, fairness and belonging donโ€™t align โ€” and what that means for the Europe weโ€™re shaping.

๐Ÿ”น Expect open discussions, different perspectives, and space to turn real experiences into ideas for change.
