Business Events Join Greece's National Development Agenda 🇬🇷

On 22 June, ICCA and the Hellenic Growth Fund – The National Investment Fund of Greece – joined forces to integrate the meetings industry into Greece's long-term investment and development agenda.

This strategic collaboration reflects a shared vision: that the meetings industry is not simply a driver of tourism, but a catalyst for investment, innovation, knowledge exchange, talent attraction, and sustainable economic growth.

By combining the Hellenic Growth Fund's vision for developing Greece's strategic assets with ICCA's global expertise, business intelligence, and international network, this partnership will strengthen Greece's competitiveness as a destination for international meetings and congresses while creating long-term value for destinations, businesses, and communities.

3 days, 1 community, a record-breaking gathering! 🌍🤝

The ICCA Mediterranean & ICCA France-Benelux Joint Chapter Meeting in Thessaloniki brought together 174 participants from 17 countries, making it the largest ICCA Joint Chapter Meeting ever held.

Beyond the numbers, it was about connection, collaboration, and momentum. From exploring how partnerships shape destination competitiveness to turning dialogue into action through hands-on workshops, the programme focused on building stronger, more resilient event ecosystems for the future.

Outside the meeting rooms, set the scene for unforgettable moments, from a city tour to a sunset cruise and a true Greek summer celebration filled with culture, dancing, and plate smashing.

This meeting also marked a key transition for the France Benelux Chapter. Thank you to Lina Opstapchuk for her leadership as Chapter Chair, and a warm welcome to Inge Janvier as the new Chair. Congratulations to Olivier Vallariello of Grimaldi Forum Monaco on his election as Deputy Chair.

A sincere thank you to all members, speakers, partners, and friends who made this meeting such a success. Your energy continues to drive this community forward.

What do legacy and impact really mean, and why do they matter? 🌏

Association meetings do far more than bring people together. They create lasting legacies, drive positive change, and strengthen communities. This was a key theme throughout a recent journey across Japan, where ICCA's Senior Manager Education & Impact, Gemmeke De Jongh joined Waikin Wong and Sheaufen Lee from ICCA Asia-Pacific to connect with members and industry leaders in Osaka, Tokyo, and Yokohama.

From conversations on impact-driven bidding and the value of ICCA data, to discussions with our members on how destinations can create meaningful outcomes, one message stood out: Successful events are measured by much more than attendance.

These discussions echoed the findings of ICCA's impact studies and the commitment of the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau to creating long-term value through business events. Together, we explored how a more impact-focused bid approach can help destinations deliver meaningful and lasting legacies.

This spirit was beautifully reflected during the APacCHRIE 2026 Congress in Osaka, hosted by member Keiko Nishimoto of Ritsumeikan University. A memorable cultural karaoke performance in the plenary hall showcased how local culture can create lasting memories and meaningful connections.

Japan's commitment to positive impact is also reflected in its strong position in the ICCA GlobeWatch Rankings, a testament to the dedication of Japanese members and the wider ICCA community in delivering long-term value to society.

Together, we continue to explore how meetings can leave a legacy that extends far beyond the event itself.
