In March 2026, Kaalo Nederland responded to urgent drought conditions in the Nugaal region of Puntland, supporting over 300 vulnerable households with 150 tanks of safe drinking water.

Access to clean water is life-saving, especially in times of crisis. This intervention helped ease the burden on communities facing severe water shortages.

In response to the prolonged drought, Kaalo Nederland has delivered 13 more tanks of safe drinking water to 52 drought-affected households in Qarxis, Eyl District. The activity was carried out on 26/March/2026.

While needs remain critical, we continue to stand with vulnerable communities in Puntland, providing life-saving assistance and responding to urgent humanitarian needs.

Het klinkt als een geweldige en belangrijke initiatie van Stichting Kaalo Nederland! Door de steun die jullie bieden, krijgen kinderen in Puntland, Somalië toegang tot energie en computers, wat voor veel van hen een wereld van verschil maakt. Het is fantastisch dat deze 23 scholen nu kunnen profiteren van zonne-energie en computers. Dit opent zoveel mogelijkheden voor hun onderwijs en toekomstige kansen.
Zijn er specifieke projecten of doelen waar jullie momenteel aan werken, of is er een manier waarop mensen meer kunnen bijdragen of ondersteunen? Het zou geweldig zijn om te horen hoe men verder kan helpen in dit mooie werk!

From August 2025 to January 2026, Kaalo Nederland successfully implemented the project Empowering Women in Puntland Through Legal Rights Awareness and Support in Garowe, Puntland.

Through legal awareness workshops covering gender-based violence (GBV), education, employment and inheritance rights, and access to justice, along with peer support groups and Somali-language legal guides, the project strengthened women’s legal knowledge and confidence to seek justice. Community-based support structures were also established to ensure continued impact beyond the six-month project period.

In 2024–2025, Kaalo Nederland implemented the 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐈 project, supporting seven schools in remote Puntland towns with solar energy and computer labs.
