Unlike the traditional donor-dependent model, Kaalo Nederland believes that development should not be funded by donors alone.

We mobilize resources locally, invite beneficiary communities to contribute what they can without creating undue burden, and engage Somali diaspora communities to support initiatives back home.

This approach builds trust, strengthens community ownership, and challenges the idea that communities are simply recipients of aid. They are partners with resources, ideas, and the capacity to drive their own development.

We have tested this model, and 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔.

As funding cuts continue to challenge the NGO sector, we are proud to share our experience and knowledge with organizations seeking practical approaches to sustainable, community-led resource mobilization.
