📢 Abstract submissions are open for the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) virtual conference, Mechanisms of Cancer Avoidance 2027.

The conference will explore why certain cells, tissues and individuals remain cancer-free despite genetic predispositions, environmental risk factors or advanced age—and how these insights could inform new prevention strategies and biomarkers.

Researchers from academia and industry are invited to submit work on cancer resistance, immune surveillance, autoantibody biology, cancer-free high-risk populations, ageing, biomarkers and translational approaches to cancer prevention.

EATRIS joined fellow European Research Infrastructure Consortia at the Dutch ERIC Directors Meeting in Amsterdam, represented by Florence Bietrix (Deputy Director to the Executive Board) and Tamara Carapina (Head of Legal and Governance).

Hosted by EHRI-ERIC at NIOD, the biannual meeting provided a valuable forum to exchange experiences and best practices on issues affecting ERICs hosted in the Netherlands. Discussions ranged from the future structure of FP10 to industrial access to research and technology infrastructures.

Representatives from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science also contributed to the discussions.

Martin de Kort, EATRIS Scientific Lead Medicines Development, recently represented EATRIS at the OSIRIS closing symposium, held in Prague on 5–6 October.

Roundtables and the closing panel highlighted several measures for advancing reproducible research: strong leadership, supportive institutional cultures, collaboration with funders, education, and incentives that recognise multidisciplinary work.

The symposium also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with EATRIS members and collaborators from across Europe.

Thank you to the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague for hosting an excellent meeting, and to the OSIRIS consortium for advancing more transparent, trustworthy and reproducible science.

EATRIS recently joined the panel “Health Innovation Partnerships: Impact through Collaboration”, organised by COCIR and Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) and hosted by MEP Michael Hadjipantela at the European Parliament in Brussels on September 30.​

Sara Zullino, EATRIS Scientific Lead AI for Medical Applications, who represented EATRIS alongside UMBRELLA Project Coordinator Carlos Molina (VHIR), shared a key insight:

The meeting will bring together researchers, clinicians, and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in iPSC-based cell therapies, cardiac regeneration, organoid models, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Sara Zullino, EATRIS Scientific Lead AI for Medical Applications, contributed to discussions on the project’s AI Translational Assessment Framework, which aims to help AI development teams identify gaps early and define clearer routes towards clinical implementation and patient impact.

🚀 STARDAST is officially underway! This new Horizon Europe project will strengthen data stewardship across Europe through training, career development, professional recognition and alignment with FAIR Data, Open Science and the European Open Science Cloud.

EATRIS was represented at the kick-off by Nektarios Liaskos, Data Strategy Manager, together with colleagues from our Training and Education team, Sarah Morgan, Training Manager, and Rebecca Ludwig, Head of Training and Education.

EATRIS is pleased to contribute the translational medicine perspective, together with Koç University Translational Medicine Research Center (KUTTAM), participating as EATRIS’s affiliated entity.
