At the DT4PH 2026 event in Leuven, EATRIS Scientific Lead for AI for Medical Applications, Sara Zullino, and Claudia Sestito (Scientific Project Manager) joined experts from across the healthcare ecosystem to discuss the adoption of digital twins and AI in clinical settings.

In her presentation, Sara highlighted Compass AI as a practical example of translating trustworthy AI principles into healthcare. The initiative is helping to drive real-world validation, clinical adoption, and stakeholder engagement for AI-enabled solutions.

The PRECISEU Annual General Assembly was recently held in Sofia, Bulgaria, bringing together the consortium to share updates and plan for the year ahead.

The PRECISEU project aims to connect innovation ecosystems across Europe to efficiently advance towards a truly personalised healthcare, transferring practices and solutions from region to region and scaling up deep-tech healthcare innovations based on advanced therapies medicinal products (ATMPs) and health data across Europe.

Researchers at Hannover Medical School (MHH) have secured €8 million in EU funding for the iNDUCARE project, which aims to make patient-specific heart cell therapies faster, more affordable and clinically feasible.

By combining advanced bioprocessing, AI-supported quality control and innovative manufacturing approaches, the consortium aims to increase cell yields up to sevenfold, reduce production time from one year to seven months, and cut costs by up to 70%.

EATRIS joined a recent meeting at the European Parliament about “Funding for Non-Animal Science: Moonshot for NAMs”, organised by Humane World for Animals Europe.

Anton Ussi (EATRIS CEO) and Martin de Kort (Scientific Lead Medicines Development) met with policy-makers, industry representatives, and academic experts to discuss how the European Union can accelerate the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal methods in biomedical research and safety testing.

✈️ EATRIS Member Engagement Officer Eliis Keidong decided to bring back an unusual souvenir from our recent Board Meetings in Prague. A large decorative event board half her size!

As the boarding opened for the flight KL1358 to Amsterdam, she started wondering whether she had been overly optimistic with her plan. Fortunately, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines crew were unfazed. With good humour and a bit of creativity, they helped her bring it on board. To everyone's surprise, the poster board slid perfectly into the overhead compartment, as if it had been designed for air travel.

My thanks to the KLM flight crew for their kindness and flexibility—and for helping a wonderful memory from Prague make its way safely to Amsterdam.
