In the Netherlands, 41% of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime which is significantly higher than the EU average of 30.7%.

Research shows that incidents of domestic abuse can increase during football tournaments including this year's World Cup.

Heightened emotions, intense match outcomes, and increased alcohol consumption can all contribute to elevated risk. And because many victims face barriers to safely reporting abuse or seeking support, official statistics are likely to underestimate the true scale of the problem.

If you or someone you know is experiencing violence against women and children, or domestic abuse in the Netherlands, confidential support is available:
• Veilig Thuis: 0800-2000 (24/7 advice and support)• Slachtofferhulp Nederland: 0900-0101 for victim support services• In an emergency or if there is immediate danger, call 112

Pinay sa Holland GABRIELA joins the May 1 protest in Rotterdam, standing with migrants—especially undocumented workers—facing exploitation and insecurity in the Netherlands. This struggle echoes globally, as workers everywhere confront low wages, unsafe conditions, and systemic inequality.

We also stand for invisible and unpaid labor that continuously build societies and economies, largely carried by women and feminized bodies, whose labor was never counted as work and was never counted as a worker.

Solidarity knows no bounds.
Solidarity knows no borders.

Thousands of members from various groups march along España Boulevard in Manila on Friday, May 1, during the Labor Day protest, as workers and activists call for higher wages, lower prices of goods, and stronger labor protections. Organized by major labor coalitions, the mobilization forms part of a nationwide action led by groups such as Kilusang Mayo Uno and allied organizations, with demonstrators proceeding toward Mendiola.

Participants from different sectors carry placards and chant demands addressing economic hardships, including inflation and stagnant wages affecting Filipino workers.

✊ 🛠️ Counter Rising Fascism with Working Women's Unity!
🔗 IWA May Day Statement: https://www.internationalwomensalliance.org/en/statements/mayday26-global

May 1 reminds us that when working women and migrants join arm in arm with all workers, the working class becomes an unstoppable force for change that shakes the unjust and exploitative foundations of capitalism and demands something new to be built from the rubble.

On this International Workers’ Day, the International Women's Alliance unites all our members, allies, and friends under the banner: Counter Rising Fascism with Working Women's Unity! Build the united front of women workers and migrants with all exploited and oppressed people of the world!

International Workers’ Day represents the unity of workers in waging fights for improved working conditions and also commemorates the strength and force for change that workers have when united in common struggle.

IWA uplifts the indisputable role of the working class in changing and shaping the world. Working women and migrants must come together to build a united front that demands meaningful change for the working people of the world!
