Gip made sure to relentlessly pressure the rim in transition, resulting in 14.6 points per game and a ton of high quality looks.
Scoring points is cool, but trying to lead a team to a championship requires a defensive identity.
Great guards pressure the ball, win the point of attack often, manoeuvre screens well and hustle for every singe loose ball they can find.
Bending the defense by beating your initial defender can really help build momentum and creates a ton of advantages.
if you study the film, the first step & the footwork…It’s safe to say there was no-one in the entire tournament that could keep Tay in front of them defensively.
Getting your teammates quality looks consistently is what turns a good player into a great one.
When the scoring dipped, this kid found ways to get the ball to the right person in the right spot at the right time.

Seeing him hit a three (or more) every single game was really a big testament to his work ethic and renewed confidence.
Honestly, the highlights are nice, but this kid lives, eats and breathes in the gym.
