🎧 Report from our first soundwalk at Westkreuz
On May 30, artists, architects, urban planners and performers joined us to explore the many sonic places around Berlin Westkreuz. This walk was the first event in a public programme leading up to Sonic Placemaking Berlin in 2027.
Together, we listened to borders between sonic places, reflected on aural diversity, and explored how different bodies, surfaces, heights and infrastructures shape our hearing experience. Along the way, we discussed what urban planning can learn from often-overlooked listening positions and auditory experiences.
The walk ended at the AVUS Motel overlooking the Autobahn Dreieck Funkturm, where we exchanged impressions accompanied by the constant hum of Germany’s busiest motorway junction.
A fascinating start to a longer journey of listening, learning and reimagining the city through sound.
