What do you do when your son gets a diagnosis that changes everything?

Ozzie can’t run 21.1 km. So Harun is running it for her flock.

Harun has loved parrots for as long as he can remember. After losing his ring-necked parakeet, that love only grew, and he went on to qualify as a veterinary assistant. A few years ago he adopted Ozzie, a caique, through the Vrolijke Papegaai Foundation, and saw first-hand how carefully they look after every bird and find it the right home.

On Sunday 25 October, Harun runs the Etten-Leur half marathon to raise money for the foundation’s medical fund. Parrots that arrive in their care often need vet check-ups, tests, medication or treatment, and those costs add up fast.

He’s already raised over €1,000 thanks to your support. Every euro brings another rescue parrot the care it needs.

Sometimes the biggest difference comes from the simplest things.

What do you do when your child is sentenced to seven years in prison in another country?

Wolfram Jarosch is a father who says his child Maja was unlawfully extradited to Hungary and has since spent over two years in detention in Budapest, including more than a year in solitary confinement and a hunger strike of up to 40 days. Maja is accused of attacking neo-Nazis in Budapest, which Wolfram disputes, saying there is no proof Maja used violence. Today, the Hungarian court handed down a sentence of seven years.

His goal now is to bring Maja back to Germany, citing a ruling of Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court. The family has already paid €80,000 in legal fees.

Wolfram asks for a small donation, or simply a share of his video.
