EQ-Arts Supports European Higher Arts Education Aerea

04/08/2025

As part of the Artistic Research Alliance (ARA), ELIA welcomes the doubling of the budget of for the period 2028-2034 that was proposed by European Commission. However, there are still pitfalls to overcome in view of raising the excellence and international competitiveness of the European Research Area.

In our collective response statement to the initial proposals for Horizon Europe 2028-2034, we present a set of recommendations for the European Parliament and Council of the European Union on how to fully leverage arts and culture, heritage, and creativity in the further development and implementation of the programme, with a particular focus on the role of artistic research.

To maintain global significance and achieve its long-term strategic objectives, the European Union must invest in forward-looking, high-impact research ecosystems. By stimulating and supporting artistic research, the EU will not only strengthen its competitiveness in key industrial areas but also strengthen its transformative capacity and societal resilience.

A day of strategic dialogue and planning! 🗣️🤝

As key organisations from across Europe and beyond gathered in Vienna, we tackled key questions about amplifying our collective voice to drive real change in advocating for .

We focused on how to leverage our combined strength politically and institutionally, achieving more together than we could individually.

We also explored the scope of our partnership and imagined our joint shared future actions.

Information flow, decision-making, and governance were crucial points of discussion as well. We explored how we can streamline communication and collaborate effectively on joint actions.

Lastly, we started mapping out future meetings and gatherings, ensuring our group remains united and active in advancing artistic research.

Leaving today energised and ready for the next steps!

Stay tuned for our first official statement next week.

What a great success the Creative Skills Week has been! Cyanotypes had the opportunity to share with a wider audience its achievements and plans for the next stages of the project.

Through presentations, workshops and gaming activities Cyanotypes presented the project’s own Creative Agency Framework and Training Curriculum. Our partners also addressed the emerging topics of microcredentials together with an ethical and secure use of Artificial Intelligence.

Join our CYANOTYPES community to follow and contribute to our initiatives. To conclude with Soenke Zehle’s thoughts: “the collective is what sustains your individual agency”. CYANOTYPES is waiting for your input, get involved today: https://cyanotypes.website
