Wearable sculpture artist Daphne Karstens is artist-in-residence in het Plein Theater! In haar residentie werkt Daphne aan een beeldend onderzoek 'Othered Bodies', dat de bestaande orde kritisch bekijkt. Sara Ahmeds ‘Queer Phenomenology’ dient als vertrekpunt voor de creatie van ‘wearable sculptures’ die een eigen narratief dragen.

Wearable sculpture artist Daphne Karstens is currently artist-in-residence at the Plein Theater. During her residency, she invites Rachel Hann - Associate Professor of Performance and Design at Northumbria University (Newcastle) - for a talk and Q&A on her research into costume.

When is costume? This presentation takes that question as a starting point to investigate how and when something becomes ‘costume’.

Van 3 t/m 15 augustus verwelkomen we wearable sculpture artist Daphne Karstens als artist-in-residence in het Plein Theater productiehuis!

Daphne combineert 'sculpture' en kostuumontwerp om experimentele wearable sculptures, kostuums, performances en installaties te creëren. Haar werk richt zich op het experimenteren met materialen, vormen en structuren op en rond het lichaam. In haar residentie zal Daphne werken aan een beeldend onderzoek 'Othered Bodies', dat de bestaande orde kritisch bekijkt. Sara Ahmeds ‘Queer Phenomenology’ dient als vertrekpunt voor de creatie van wearable sculptures die een eigen narratief dragen.

Tijdens haar residentie nodigt Daphne Rachel Hann, Associate Professor of Performance and Design aan de Northumbria University (Newcastle), uit voor een talk en Q&A over haar onderzoek naar kostuum in scenografische cultuur. En aan het eind van de residentie is er een work-in-progress sharing van Othered Bodies.

Ons hart is met Berlijn ❤️

De aanval op Pride Berlijn is een aanslag op alles waar we in het Plein Theater voor staan. In tijden als deze voelen we hoe belangrijk het is dat we elkaar blijven steunen en blijven opkomen voor liefde, vrijheid en veiligheid. 🏳‍🌈

Tot ons verdriet is op zondag 19 juli onze dierbare collega Gert Scheper na een lange strijd overleden. Gert was meer dan 25 jaar werkzaam als theatertechnicus in het Plein Theater. In zijn rol en toewijding was hij ook voor velen een vriend.

Hij zal donderdag begraven worden in besloten kring en zal door ons team en vele artiesten gemist worden.

Wij wensen iedereen die hem kende veel sterkte toe met het verlies.

Today we start WorldPride month at the Plein Theater! 🏳️‍🌈

Throughout the year, but especially this month, we celebrate q***rness with a bold and vibrant program featuring theatre, film, drag, and performance. 🔥

Ten up-and-coming artists showcase their performing arts that engages with q***r perspectives, identity, the body, freedom, and the many ways we can celebrate ourselves and one another.

From 15th to 19th of July ten q***r films will be screened by the feminist film collective Cinemien, and Tante Peggy's Kitchen serves vegan food. 🎬🥗

Together with LESBIQUE we Bring drag back to the theatre with a special WorldPride edition featuring the irresistible drag queen Sederginne (July 11). And last but not least, together with q***r.red presents and Lesbique, we explore the boundaries of q***r erotique during Darkroom on Stage (July 31)
