“Put your own oxygen mask on first - then help the person next to you.”
Not just airline safety talk. The real foundation of what our Guardian Angels do.
This week we ran a training for our volunteers - the people who show up for military and civilian patients in the Netherlands every single day. Together with psychologists from Empatia Program, we dug into trauma-informed care, communicating with military patients, and the thing nobody talks about enough: how to keep giving without running empty.

The training was built around our specific work and realities - and that takes real effort. Thank you, Empatia. We genuinely mean it. And yes, we promise to actually follow the advice 😉
Bonus: we learned some anonymous fun facts about each other. Turns out our volunteers once dreamed of being Indiana Jones, astronauts, forensic investigators, ballerinas… or just having a magic wand. Honestly? Makes total sense.
A quick reminder of why this all matters: thanks to our Guardian Angels community, we can support military patients in the Netherlands - no matter who organized their evacuation. Together we’ve already been there for hundreds of them. 164 evacuations organized by NL4UA directly. 💙💛

Ever won the lottery?
Or remember that moment you got accepted to university?
Or when someone you love said “yes”?
Or when your flight gets upgraded out of nowhere ✨

That feeling is exactly how we feel every single time a fundraiser closes successfully.
And today is one of those days 💙💛
“Three hospitals on the Edge 2.0” fundraiser is officially closed:
€33,800 raised.

We’ll be back soon with a full report.
Thank you for making this happen. 🙏🏻

It's been a while since we shared some happy moments with you. Honestly, we've missed it! ✨
So sharing some photos of our veterans on Easter celebration. 🎉 We organised a fishing trip and BBQ for them at the gorgeous Toms Creek: fresh air, good food, great company. Exactly what the soul needs. 🎣🔥
We always say it: recovery is so much more than medical treatment. Moments like these - laughing, relaxing, just being - are just as healing. 💛💙
Huge thank you to everyone who pitched in to make this happen! Special love to Toms Creek for the perfect spot on the lake and your very welcoming approach and Vesela Pani Ukrainian food NL for the incredible BBQ meats (like at home) — you made this Easter one to remember!

You might remember that not long ago, the incredible Andriesse family, together with NL4UA, sent 5 vehicles to Ukraine—soon to be transformed into ambulances. 🚑

But that's not all.

Alongside them came 96+ boxes of essential medical aid. Ninety-six. That's not just a number. That's… your entire living room stacked floor to ceiling. That's countless clean dressings, quality catheters, and medicines reaching people who truly need them—kids included.

It's easy to scroll past and think: "96 boxes, nice." But behind those boxes? A massive effort.

Huge thanks to:

— Reginald Diets — honestly, where do we even start. You went so far beyond what anyone expected. Thank you for everything you gathered, every box you packed, every bit of energy you poured into this. You're the real deal ❤️;

— Embracing Care, for bandages, orthopedic supplies, and so much more — you know who you are and you know we love you;

— The Andriese family, friends, and (medical) students who sorted every single item with military precision;

— Helios IT, Jose Komen and other supporters — thank you for the computers and workstations that make training and coordination possible.

— Our convoy and drivers who made sure it all reached Ukraine safely;

— And the doctors on the ground, saving lives every day under unimaginable conditions;

The aid has already reached TacMed Ukraine and НДСЛ Охматдит (Okhmatdyt National Children's Specialized Hospital) — Ukraine's largest children's hospital.

As a bonus, Battalion Lev received 7 desktops and 3 computers with accessories to train drone operators.

So while this may look like "just 96 boxes" in your feed — know that each one carries a story, a life, a difference we made together.

If you'd like to be part of this: donate, contribute medical supplies, or join our missions. 💙💛 nl4ua.org/donate

We just wrapped our 5th training in the Netherlands — this time with a multidisciplinary team from Mykolaiv 🇳🇱🎓🇺🇦
Mykolaiv wasn't a random choice. The region sits close to the front lines, shelling is constant, and the hospital has been running on a stretched team for years. Middle and junior staff dropped by 25–28% since 2021, with the heaviest losses in 2022–2023. At the same time, patient numbers grew from 5,341 to 8,541 — a 60% increase. Military patients went from 368 to 1,421, nearly a 300% rise.
Bringing this team here felt important.
"The war has changed not only the number of patients but the very nature of our work. Behind every injury is a complex story, pain, and at the same time extraordinary strength. We see every day how people after severe injuries learn to live anew. It's about endurance, support, and faith. For us, rehabilitation is no longer only about physical recovery but about restoring meaning to life. That is why a multidisciplinary team has become critically important — together we can do more", says Oleh Yakovenko, PRM Doctor from the Mykolaiv team.
Thank you to every partner, instructor, and supporter who made this training possible — your time and expertise matter more than you realise.
326 specialists trained to date. This June, we welcome our sixth and final team to the Netherlands, while continuing the follow-up trainings in Ukraine. We couldn't have imagined this project would reach almost 400 specialists across Ukraine. 🙏

Kramatorsk is just 15–20 km from the front line. Still, people remain there — elderly residents, people with disabilities, those with nowhere else to go. For them, the doctors at Kramatorsk's clinic are not just medical staff. They're friends. Helpers. Family.

Many of their patients live with chronic conditions or are recovering from severe injuries and amputations. VAC therapy is what keeps wounds from becoming a death sentence — healing in weeks instead of months. Without the consumables, there's nothing to work with.

That's why €19,000 of our total €33,860 goal goes to VAC consumables for Kramatorsk (part of the supplies will also support the regional hospital in Lutsk, which accepts patients for second-line treatment).

The good news? We've already raised over €14,000 together. 🙌 But we're not there yet — and the need is very real, right now.

5 medevac cars and 126 boxes of medical supplies just reached Ukraine.

💰 €60,226 raised

🚗 5 four-wheel drive vehicles (being converted into medevac cars as you read this)

🏥 126 boxes of medical aid (catheters, bandages, trauma dressings and more)

What makes this result even more special is that behind it, on a first place, is a regular Dutch family — the Andriesse family. A father and two sons.

A few months ago, a couple of strangers called us and said: "We want to do something." No grand plan. Just that. They were so enthusiastic that we quickly believed we could make something great together.

Oh, we were right! ;-)

They pulled in friends, found cars and medical donations across the Netherlands, teamed up with our volunteers — and drove everything there themselves. Isn't it inspiring? And they keep saying: "If we did this, anyone can!"

The need is still enormous — and this concept works. Would you help us send the next convoy?

We need at least €44,000 for 4 more medevac cars.

👉 Donate, share this post, join us: https://donorbox.org/ambulance-for-ukraine

The supplies went straight to and the National Children's Hospital Okhmatdyt — , huge thank you for your valuable donations; it wouldn't have been possible without you. Jose Komen and Ronny Komen, thank you for continuing to donate medical supplies — it's deeply appreciated in Ukraine! The cars go to Frame Workshop for conversion — repainted, adapted, ready for the front line, and then on to military units.

Quick note on why cars and not ambulances: on the front line, you need to outrun drones. Speed and agility over everything.

Last but not least — our amazing, brave drivers who went all the way from the Netherlands to Kyiv: .arts.24 .schoenmakers

Kseniya Negrutsa, co-founder of NL4UA, has been awarded the Order of Princess Olga (III Class).

This honor belongs to every person who makes NL4UA possible —our team, volunteers, doctors, and supporters.

We are sincerely grateful to the President of Ukraine Володимир Зеленський and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of The Netherlands Andriy Kostin for this recognition.

And a heartfelt congratulations to Veronika Mutsei and Jaap Scholten, who were also honored.

Now back to work 💪🏻

News about shelling in Kherson has become routine.

Meanwhile, Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after A. and O. Tropiny continues to work under constant attacks, treating thousands of patients — over 3,500 people in just one year — despite staff shortages, damage from strikes, and nonstop pressure.

And while they keep going, their equipment is wearing out — breaking down from constant use and power outages.

That’s why, as part of Three Hospitals on the Edge 2.0, we are raising funds for a plasma thawer for Kherson — something that can literally save lives in minutes.

At the same time:

• in Dnipro — we’re raising funds for laparoscopic instruments

• in Kramatorsk — for wound care (VAC) consumables

Our total goal is €33,860.

We’ve already raised ~ €4,000 — which means, ~ €29,000 still to go.

Please help us help them. Donate: https://donorbox.org/three-hospitals-on-the-edge-2-0?preview=1773935015&save=success
