We were sorting through our immense photo archive today and wanted to show a little bit of our story…

Swipe through: 2023 → now. Same obsession with what’s in season, slightly better view.

Thank you to everyone who sat down with us along the way - the ones who came when it was a shared restaurant space at our HQ with our community kitchen in one half of the room and TestTafel in the other, and the ones who found us last week.

First slide is a fermented tomato water made with koji oil “Leche de Tigre” and basil amuse from our menu of the last week of July. Simple yet a perferct representation of how far we’ve come

We have something special coming up!! 🍄🎪🎁
Book now to join a one-off 3-course TestTafel dinner on Monday 7th September 🍽️

When the annual Verspillingsvrije week (Zero-Waste Week) comes around, we know it’s our time to shine.

Waste-minimising practices are naturally ingrained in what we do, so what better way to draw attention to this movement than a kick-off dinner at TestTafel to celebrate this?

For this unique evening, we’re teaming up with SFYN (Slow Food Youth Network) to serve a menu that celebrates removing the waste from the kitchen 💚

Find out more, and reserve your place to join us via our website ♻️

Not everything happens in the kitchen… 💫
This is Alice, our Operations, Communications, and HR manager, for both De Sering and TestTafel . She makes sure that our staff feels and is well taken care of here. Even though you probably have not seen her much if you have had dinner here, the place would not function the way it does, without her 📈📊👩‍🏫

She started her journey here as an intern in October 2023. If you have ever met Alice, you might have heard a lot of things about her, in particular her weird dreams😴 or her brand new puppy Ted 🐶

She would strongly argue that Scottish accents are not all the same, especially when asked: ‘Oh you are from Scotland?’. With a background in Fashion Branding she always walks in with style and usually quite funky shoes 👠

Thank you Alice for making sure we have our… things… together🕺🏻

Our tafels are set for this week and our menu is about to roll out -
a weekly changing menu is a lot to process (for us too), but we adapt to the times in which we feel slow food is necessary (local, seasonal, thoughtful) and people need creativity more than ever.

So here we are, come to TestTafel to taste what’s available this summer;

All produce supplied from in and around the Amsterdam area, inspired by the depth of our imagination 🌀🍽️

An insight of what our cooking lessons look like 🤭

Our cooking lessons have been such a hit that they are completely booked already for the next two weeks!! 😱

This makes us so happy and so motivated to do them more and more. 🥰😁

Keep an eye out on our scheduler for the next rotation of cooking lessons 🫶🏼💅

In the meantime, you can always join a volunteer shift at De Sering.

Come, it’s fun😏

We are so excited to officially introduce the Nieuw West Verbindt Project! 😊
At De Sering, connecting people through food has always been our mission. Now, with the support of Gemeente Amsterdam, we’re taking that mission directly to the streets of Nieuw-West🥣

We’re launching three programs designed to strengthen our connection to our neighborhood:

The Travelling Kitchen: Bringing fresh lunches and dinners to four different locations across thneighborhoodod. 🚚

Cooking Lessons: Learn the fundamentals of cooking and come learn our neighbors’ secret family recipes. Everyone is welcome to join us at Rhoneweg 6! 👩‍🍳

Repair Café: We don’t believe in throwing away things that are broken… we fix them! From carpentry to electronics, come learn new skills or help us keep our equipment running. 🛠️

Supported by Gemeente Amsterdam and our partners at , and .nl , we’re connecting with Nieuw-West so that everyone feels welcome at our table.
