Across ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ, dedicated individuals are helping make sport more inclusive, more welcoming, and more representative of our communities.
Each year, the EGLSF Advocacy Awards recognise people whose commitment, courage, and leadership have created lasting change for LGBTIQ+ people in and through sport.

This year's recipients have spent decades building bridges, challenging stereotypes, and bringing people together both on and off the field.

Happy Pride Month from Sofia! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ

This weekend, the LBTQI+ Women Active project partners had the pleasure of coming together in Sofia for our project meeting.

Our weekend included:

๐Ÿค Partnership meetings to review recent activities, plan final project deliverables, and explore how the projectโ€™s achievements can continue after its official end.

โšฝ An EcoActivity football taster session, followed by meaningful discussions about participantsโ€™ experiences in sport and the barriers that still affect the participation of LBTQI+ women in sports.

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Participation in Sofia Pride, including the Pride March, community events, and celebrations that brought together activists, allies, and community members from across Bulgaria.

Being at Pride in Eastern Europe was a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility, solidarity, and community for change. We are grateful to everyone who continues to work towards a world where all LBTQI+ people can be active, visible, safe, and celebrated ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

How do conversion practices affect LGBTQIA+ people involved in sport?

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ The answers come from the research Better in Colour, Better in Sports, conducted in 2025 by Gaynet in partnership with EGLSF and ACT โ€“ Against Conversion Therapy, within the Connecting Spheres initiative funded by the European Union.

๐ŸŽ“ The research was developed in collaboration with the Department of Developmental and Social Psychology of Sapienza Universitร  di Roma and coordinated by Prof. Roberto Baiocco and Prof.ssa Jessica Pistella.

โšฝ Data were collected during the EuroGames Lyon 2025, one of the largest LGBTQIA+ sporting events in Europe, which brought together more than 4,000 participants from across the continent. A total of 527 people took part in the survey.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ To better understand the scale of the phenomenon, the study builds on evidence already highlighted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights LGBTIQ Survey, the largest survey ever conducted among LGBTQIA+ people in Europe.

๐Ÿ” Understanding the phenomenon is the first step towards addressing it.

Today marks , a day to highlight the importance of safety and inclusion for all q***r individuals in sports.

In this video, members of our community share what this means to them: friendship, safety, confidence, visibility, joy, and the liberty to exist authentically. Sport should be a space where everyone feels they belong.

While creating q***r-inclusive spaces creates connection and empowerment, many LGBTQI+ people still encounter exclusion, discrimination, and obstacles to participating in sports.

Therefore, IDAHOBIT serves not only as a day for visibility but also as a call to action, advocating for the right to participate, belong, and be seen. EGLSF remains committed to ensuring everyone can safely and openly engage in sport as their true selves.
