One of the most insightful moments from last month’s 2025 Action Forum in Nairobi was our visit to Tatu City, a subsidiary company of Rendeavour, and one of the companies featured in WBA’s Urban Benchmark.

The visit brought to life what sustainable development can look like on the ground. Rendeavour’s four-pillar approach, which has been adapted across countries including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia and the DRC, offered a practical example of how companies can embed sustainability in ways that respond to local needs and long-term impact.

The visit helped frame the sessions that followed, where we engaged with stakeholders from across business, government, civil society and the UN. From trust and transparency to digital inclusion and localising global frameworks, the sessions deepened our shared understanding of what transformation demands, and how much more we can achieve by working together.

We are grateful to Tatu City for hosting us and to everyone who contributed to a day of honest dialogue, shared learning and renewed momentum.

What a way to kick off today’s Action Forum with over 130 sustainability leaders from civil society, the UN, academia, government, consultancies, law firms and companies across Kenya.

Our morning began with a powerful session where participants reflected on the realities of sustainable business in Kenya.

In our second session, we explored the shifts in global supply chains and what they mean for Kenya and the region.

A common thread across both sessions was clear: real change can’t happen in silos; it requires collective action. At WBA, we hope to keep offering evidence, sharing insights and helping bring the right people together to foster corporate accountability.

A big thanks to all our speakers for sharing valuable insights with us.

As we count down to next week’s hashtag in Kenya, we look forward to joining our partners and stakeholders to reflect on how companies operating in Kenya and East Africa can embed sustainability into their core strategies.

In this session, we will hear from different voices on how companies can move from ambition into action, driving impact through their operations, value chains, and influence across industries, even in a fast-changing world.

We will also share more about our work at WBA, and how we use data and evidence to inform, support, and when necessary, challenge companies in improving their sustainability performance.

➡️ If you are in Nairobi on Wednesday 11 June, we’d love to see you there.

Our collective future depends on 2000 companies – the SDG2000. These businesses power the systems we rely on daily, from food and energy to finance and housing. Without their urgent action, real progress on the won’t happen.

In 2026, for the first time, they will be simultaneously assessed and ranked on their sustainability impact. This isn’t just a report card—it’s a call to action. A moment for leaders to rise and for all of us—employees, investors, and board members—to demand bold change.

In the hands of 2000 CEOs lies the power to shape a sustainable, equitable future. The countdown has begun. Let’s ensure they become 2000 reasons to be hopeful!
