Monday evening two JCI chapters Amsterdams Rijk & Amsterdam International played the World Trade Game. Despite being developed a long time ago with the work of Nobel laureate Professor Tinbergen, the game and playing it is as relevant today as it was then. It simulates world trade and different economies and priorities interact on a world stage.

Huge congratulations to Maarten Oosterbaan, who officially became a JCI Senator this weekend! 🎉🥂

For those who may not be familiar with it: a JCI Senatorship is the highest honour within JCI worldwide, awarded to members who have made a trilt exceptional contribution to the organisation. Maarten was completely surprised with this recognition during his visit to the JCI Ireland National Convention this weekend.

And the fact that he received this honour all the way over in Ireland is no coincidence. From 2020 to 2022, Maarten was a member of JCI Galway, where he made a significant contribution to the chapter.

His JCI track record speaks for itself. He was a member of JCI Amsterdam International, serving as President in 2015, and this year he is Secretary of the AI working group. He also organised the European Capitals Meeting (ECM) 2022, was part of the COC team behind JCI SGD x Art in 2019, and organised the JCI Singing Bee in 2021 on behalf of JCI Galway, bringing together international members.

During lockdown, he even gave a virtual tour of Galway, allowing people at home to experience a little piece of Ireland. And then there is his photography: from several CvA events to the 2017 JCI World Congress in Amsterdam and the 2022 European Conference in Bruges. So many memorable JCI moments have been captured through his lens. 📸

From Amsterdam to Galway, and everywhere in between: hats off to you, Maarten.

Here’s to Senator #85159! 👏

From Amsterdam to the world. 🌍

Living, working or studying in Amsterdam? Your international network can start right here.

One of the things we love about JCI is that a local connection can open the door to a global network. Wherever you travel, you can reach out to JCI members who might show you their favourite spots, introduce you to local culture, invite you into their circle and make a new city feel a little more familiar.

Because JCI is more than networking. It’s about meeting people, exchanging perspectives, discovering new places and building genuine friendships across borders.

Whether you’re Dutch, new to Amsterdam, an expat, an international student or simply someone with an international mindset, there is a place for you in our community.

So wherever your next adventure takes you:

Connect locally. Discover globally. Make friends along the way. ❤️

As always Eugenio Cataldo gave our new guests an introduction to JCI Amsterdam International. After that Roel Ottens from JCI Nederland gave workshop in which he took us through the process of structured community building!

Does this speak to you and do you want to enlarge your community. Contact us and join our next member meeting. Sign up can be done here: https://lnkd.in/eaE5J5cn

✨🎄 An evening to remember at the JCI Amsterdam International annual Christmas dinner.

Great food, even better conversations, and a room full of inspiring people coming together to celebrate the year that was — and the one ahead.
